Patriot, Statesman, War Hero.

An uncommon, common man who served his fellow Kansans and his fellow Americans throughout his long life of 98 years.
Respect and Honor to his memory.

The wife and me met him at the Capitol while he was a Senator , and I was stationed in DC. - this was WAY BACK in the early 1990's, maybe late 1980's.

He was a good man.  angel
Yes he was, and someone to whom any politician (R or D) could take an example from of how to be a sincere, honorable, and willing person to engage, talk, and work out solutions to issues with a benefit to both parties while not to surrender one's basic principles.

He embodied the good of this country's political structure without being ugly or vulgar in his demeanor during debate.
We need more like him more today than ever before in order to save this experiment in a democratic republic  from the road to ruin that it is currently on.

Rest well, sir, you gave us your best.
