Hey guys, It is time to replace the battery and I was wondering what you guys are using and where is the best place to get one. Should I upgrade to a bigger battery incase I want to add lights or any other accessories. PO told me that if I add anything it could really pull down the charge. Is that true? I don't plan on putting a lot extras but I would like to add a phone charger and some more lights. Thanks for your help.

A Valkyrie has a large alternator... like a car... I have BigBF
Quad Horns, heated gear, Moto Lights and a Cobra lightbar.
If your Valkyrie's alternator and stuff is in good shape you
should be able to add a reasonable amount of accessories
without a problem.

A universally liked Valkyrie battery is a Yuasa Battery...
YTX14-BS I think.

I've had this battery since 2014, it still seems good.

I too have one of those Autocraft batteries. I couldn't find much info about it on-line, like who sells them or what they cost. It came with the new to me Valkyrie I bought back in March. Seems to work OK. My atv's all have Yuasa batteries that last a long time. Just replaced one this fall that was 10 years old.

I went with a Motobatt MBYZ16HD AGM Quadflex Battery. I normally go with Yuasa but like the dual terminal connectors so I can run my accessory wires off the back. Had it a year so far with no issues.

What's more important with extra load is the alternator.  That's an Achille's heel with the Valk.  Best to try to stay with a Honda made alternator, Valk or GW - which has to be clocked to fit but that is no biggy.  With or W/O extra load it's first failure seems to hit around 50k miles.  And that failure is worn out brushes which is easy to fix.  Good to have a set of brushes or a spare alternator in your kit.  I have both - in fact several of both but have 4 Valks, 3 I run.   As for the battery - I stay with Yuasa.  And have reduced the load on the charger on 2 Valks by going to all LED lights - though I have 4 spots on the 97 Tourer.  Not to mention a powerful sound system - but don't run it at high volume.  Also set up with heated clothing - rarely used.  I have been happy with the Yuasas in terms of life and reliability.  20 years ago I installed a Compufire 90 watt alternator on Deerslayer - but it has LOTS of extra electrical load.  Also had to install a GW size battery as the alternator cooks smaller batts.

Thank you for the information. Wow I never knew there was so many to choose from. The ones you guys have suggested Amazon has for about 100 dollars give or take a few dollars, but the reviews are all over the place. I'm still not sure which way I'll go.
Is there a pacific cold cracking amp I should be looking for?

CCA =200/220 Amps
Recently purchased the Interstate AGM CYTX14-BS from Amazon .  It's a Yuasa design manufactured in Taiwan.
Works fine.
