Mississippi Spring Fling (a social gathering) is set. We now have a Ground Zero for all those interested. UPDATE: I got a couple of calls this morning from some folks who want to come but, didn't get reservations made at GZ in time. I made a couple of calls and went up the ladder far enough that I got the last five rooms in the hotel at the discounted rates. ALL FIVE ROOMS are the KING Rooms, that is all that is left and that discount ends tomorrow night 3/24/2022 at midnight. Be assured, that's all I can get according to my contact and she was surprised I was able to even get that. See Edited Note at the bottom of this posting about the backup facility.Dates: 1-3 April, 2022It's been a long winter and with all the different distractions, it's time for us to have a little fun. I have pre-arranged for and scheduled some great riding weather this year so, plan on it (but bring your rain gear just in case.  Ground Zero will be Double Tree by Hilton and I have negotiated a discounted rate from their normal rates. This is an active weekend here in Hattiesburg, there are other events also going on here. Rooms blocked for this event: 20 Non-Smoking King Rooms
15 Non-Smoking Double Rooms
10 King Suites with pull out Sofa.
Rates are as follows:
$99.00 + tax without breakfast in their restaurant
$109.00 + tax with breakfast for two people per room
Reservation cutoff dates for these rates is 3/20/2022, after that any rooms will go for their regular rate of $159.00 + Tax and up.

When you call to make reservations, be sure to ask for the Hub City Valkyries discount. Double Tree has it's own restaurant and bar for those interested. Currently, Mac and Warlock have volunteered to let anyone that wants to ride follow them to discrete destinations. What happens in Hattiesburg, stays in Hattiesburg.
I have arranged for a designated motorcycle parking area for us and a wash area where the hotel will provide water, a hose and towels to dry bike or bodies off with at the wash area. I'm working on a Saturday night dinner gathering of some kind but, that is still up in the air.
Edited: Based on requests to have that Saturday evening get together within walking distance of GZ, I simply can't make that happen. The Double Tree by Hilton has a restaurant open till 2200 hours (that's 10:00 PM for you civilians) that'll have to do but, Double Tree is not able to host a large gathering like this in their restaurant with all the other guests. They offered to rent me a ball room and have a banquet there but, that's beyond my financial reach so, eat where you want and let's kick tires and tell tales in the parking lot.There is fuel available from several different fuel stations very close to GZ and several other eating establishments a very short ride away. We of Hub City Valkyries are looking forward to seeing all of our two, three and four wheeled friends again, we don't care what you ride or how you get here, just plan on a good time. I would ask everyone that attends to please notify me so that I can add your name to the list of attendees and notify the dining facility we eat at on Saturday evening of the size of the group. This is pretty important so please let me know. All information will be posted on the VRCC site and Face Book as applicable, but the VRCC site is where I will be keeping the list of folks attending. I'm happy to assist however I can but, can't promise anything.
UPDATE: I received a call about Mississippi Spring Fling and was told that some folks waited too long to get the room they wanted at Double Tree by Hilton Ground Zero. All of the Double Rooms I blocked are now taken but, there are still Queen Rooms with two beds available at Double Tree for the same price. But, I have made arrangements with the facility next door for another 15 rooms. All with two beds for the same price. I have posted this message on Face Book also. The Double Tree by Hilton is booking up fast, was told today that all the "Double Rooms" have been booked but, there are still Queen Rooms (with two beds) available. I have also arranged for a backup facility for the same price. I had to do some wiggling and dancing to get this done but, if you don't find the room you want at the Double Tree by Hilton. To contact the backup facility, do this. This is very important to get the price I negotiated. You must speak to the Operations Manager Amber Ramirez and tell her you want one of the rooms I blocked out, this is valid for 15 rooms up to 10 days prior to the event. Amber's phone is 601-264-9666. If this doesn't explain it well enough, please message me and I send you my phone number. YOU MUST REQUEST ONE OF THE ROOMS I HAVE BLOCKED UNDER MY NAME AT THE BACKUP FACILITY. Am happy to assist anyone as much as I can to make this a fun event for anyone that wants to come. Put me and Serk Jr. down as a definite maybe. I framed it to the spousal unit as a test run for him going to Billings with me, and managed to get HER to work to convince ME to go.... Hehehe... Trying to see if I can work the logistics out to make it happen, prolly about 75% a go right now... |

Admittedly I was trying to be extra cheap and double dip, I want the breakfast, but as a Hilton Diamond Member breakfast is supposed to be free anyway, so..... Rams Aye, I do have two Valkyries, but the spousal unit hung up her motorcycle helmet when she donned her skydiving helmet. (And even when she did ride she adamantly refused to take a passenger, which would still leave two of the triplets left out.) She did search for any skydiving activities in the vicinity that weekend that could tempt her to follow in the big white saddle bag (AKA Minivan) but alas there were none. |

Last year's facility had fuel, restaurants and a Class 6 store right there within walking distance. These being the reason it was selected. I liked it also due to the U shape of the facility and most of the bikes parked inside the U making it a great place to kick tires and tell tales (lies in most cases) That facility would have been used again except, I had a few complaints about the facility. Trying to please everyone is an impossible task so, trying this one this year. That facility would (no doubt) still like to have some folks stay there but, their price increased also and no improvements have been made to the facility. I just let it go in one ear and out the other. If they don't like the place we stay they can go elsewhere. I'll stay with the group Reb has made reservations . If, you want your name edited from how it's posted, I'm happy to do that, just let me know. Additionally, if you don't want your name on the attending list at all, let me know.
