Hey - Following up from this topic....
http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,121068.0.html

---->I am in process to have the quotes for laser cut parts and would like to know who would want this.
Debating about the material for it. The stocker is a steel piece, but type is unknown and there's no corrosion on it. So, I am looking at cold rolled steel and then 316 stainless. - I'm a tiny bit conserned about gavanic interface corrosion with the SS, but thinking to add a .005 Mylar insulator washer to the interface if I go that way. And possibly with the Cold Rolled steel, I would powder coat it.. (my own parts only -- I could do the batch if asked)

The thing is, once you have the tensioner plates, when the time comes around to replace the OEM tensioner, you are now looking at a 40 dollar job, buy new bearings from Amazon, instead of a $180 to $200 job depending on who you buy the OEM part from.  Then, maybe later as a maintenance item say 50k to 60k miles, you just replace the bearings and reuse the tensioner plates.  And.. will be far better than the OEM overpriced cheap assembly.
---(An assembly note: It will go together with a M10 x 1.25 x 25mm Hex Flange head bolt & Nut. Grade 10.9 )

(2 cents on me, I am an automotive engineer by trade. I always overthink and overkill stuff.  So I have made laser cut parts before typically first because I want that part for my bike, and make more to spread out the cost. Then sell the parts to other guys and try to break even. )

I think you might have more takers if you were to sell the complete tensioner put together. I like to do the work on my bike, and would probably rebuild mine myself. But a lot of guys don’t, and would prefer buying the complete unit. (Just an idea)  cooldude

That's a thought, if consensus prefers that way... rather not, price starts to go up... but I would if needed.

It has been about 38 years since I had my corrosion class while getting my metallurgical engineering degree, but I doubt there is much difference as far as galvanic corrosion between stainless and plain carbon steel.  If I understand your concern properly. you are worried about corrosion between the mounting plate and the tensioner pully?  Stainless and carbon steel are both iron basically, so I would think there would be little to no difference in galvanic potential between the two parts.  The tensioners mount via a steel bolt to the aluminum cylinder case, there is a difference in galvanic potential between aluminum and steel, but since we don't see corrosion between the OEM tensioners and the cylinder case, I doubt you need be concerned.

No Problem.  In designing something, it is good to look at all possibilities for failure, and if you can confidently eliminate them, the greater your chances of a successful design.

I would thank these would fit the 1500 Goldwing too. You might want to go to Steve Sanders Forum and let them know about them. I am thanking they will also work on all of the wings from 1000 to 1500, haven't been able check that but they all look alike. Please send me a price also.

Bolts are included in a set, they are Hex Flange M10 x 1.25 thread, x 25mm long,  And matching nut, as in the photo above.
The bearings can be purchased from Amazon. If you want me to supply, we should take this to a PM.
