I have been wondering too. Thanks for asking HTJ.
I’m not even sure who it was. When we returned from our Saturday ride, I heard that the ambulance had just left with “her”.

Was she rider or passenger?
Am I correct in thinking that happened at another VRCC meeting as well? With a deadly result?
Passenger. She caught her foot dismounting downslope and landed on her tailbone. X-rays confirmed no damage other than bruising. Mrs. Hammond, Buddy's wife. You're quite incorrect. Rumors and gossip are rarely of any good value.

Carl is correct, last I spoke with Buddy, she was a bit sore and moving slow but, doing OK. Rams

A simple question. That's all it was. No need to dramatize it. Serves no purpose.
An attempt with a question to dramatize something of which you apparently had no knowledge. Served a negative purpose. For those who don't know, there was a wife thrown off a motorcycle when the bike went off the road and wrecked during InZane on a lone ride. She was not instantly but eventually killed. There was no relationship to the incident at Mississippi Spring Fling. The use of the term accident in the OP could have been misleading. Some folks are driven to involve themselves in passing information even when they have no knowledge to share.

This isn't the first time you've taken a comment of mine and overly dramatized what you think I meant by my words. I'm particularly sensitive to people who are full of themselves and think they know more than they do. I have good skills at interpreting the meaning of words.

I hope Karen is doing well.
I did hear that she may have been a bit dehydrated, which may have caused some of the symptoms which resulted in her hospital visit.
Keep drinking that water!!

Hello all, First things first, Karen, (Screen Name QT Mama) is mending and doing well. She's moving under her own power, just slower than normal! We both thank you all so much for your concerns. We got home on Monday afternoon because we took it real slow and easy on the way back. Right now, we are preparing our house for sale and that is taking all our attention, but we plan to see everyone at InZane.
For those that don't know what happened, Karen got her foot stuck somehow in the left rear footpeg and went over backwards landing with two points of impact, her tailbone and then the back of her helmet. The helmet is TOAST. Had it not been for the helmet, well, I don't like to think of the possible outcome. Even with the helmet the Dr. said she was mildly concussed.
Thanks again for all the concern. We'll see ya'll at InZane where QT Mama will show off her new helmet!

Thanks for the response Buddy. Very happy to know Karen is getting past this and on the way back to full activities. Someone has to keep you in line. Rams

Helmet did its job. No doubt. We always leave ours on until we are standing on the ground. Getting on and off feel more unstable to me than riding. One foot on the ground, one waving around in the air trying to get it over the sissy-bar, keep from dropping the key; it's just a disaster waiting to happen. Its kind of like the feeling I used to get in a "high speed taxi". Planes fly great and they taxi fairly well, but they don't FlyTaxi worth beans. The helmet has earned it's place in Valhalla!
