GOOD MORNING TO ONE AND ALL. I have just joined. I bought a 1998 standard Valkyrie in dec last year. What a lovely macine. There is only 11000km on the clock.
I must say that this site is incredible with the amount of help it provides.
I have read numerous questions and answers about the fuel petcock, but none have covered my problem.
My problem is with the mechanical side. The spring loaded ball moves to three seperate positions, ie- off, reserve and on. At two of the positions the ball seats on an o ring. The o ring at the off port has a small cut in it and when I apply manual vacum the petrol weeps out slightly.
Are these o rings round or shaped in cross section. The reason I ask is because t tried to remove it gently to no avail. Is the o ring possibly glued in.
Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
WALLY

I have never taken one out.  I would say the medal is crimped so the O-ring can't come out
easily.  Someone posted on here a couple of years ago that they had replaced them.
Maybe they will see this and chime in.  I haven't found a bad one so far but I would like
to know if they can be replaced and where to find replacements.

Welcome aboard, Wally, congrats for your purchase!

Unfortunately, I cannot be of any help either.  Sad

Welcome to the the Best Motorcycle Club in the World.  You've probably read the thread of my petcock's catastrophic failure.  My experience has led me to mandate a change to a Pingel 1300 series petcock on any Valks I may buy in the future.

Here is thread from the old tech board by Slowroad:
http://www.valkyrieforum.com/forum/tech_archive.cgi?read=1080571
"I had the same problem when I got my Valk. I would bet that the o-rings around the ports inside the valve are shot. Thats what mine turned out to be. I drilled out the rivets, replaced the o-rings with parts from the hardware store and used small machine screws and nuts to put it back together. been working fine since."

I didn't have go that far on mine. Just used a large drill bit and reamed the metal seat a bit  so the ball sits in the hole a bit deeper sealing against the o-rings.

I'm currently adapting my tank to go without a petcock all together, installing an electric fuel valve.

If you follow the thread down he explains more than the above quote does.
