100,000 miles 100 days

Was it ever verified if Chris Hopper really did do 100,000 miles in 100 days on his Harley?

    1000 miles a day on a M/C? When I was still in big truck I have done a couple 1000 mile days with all the comforts a modern big rig offers. I also had plenty of coffee and chocolate bars handy. I have done 3 1000 miles days in a row BUT crashed in the bunk fer near half a day After that thing. Maybe when I was fresh out of The Navy when I was Still in decent shape and going without much sleep was sorta normal. Even IF that H/D gittin mid 40s fer MPG That's still a LOT of fuel stops every day! BUT I was NOT there. Even my big truck Required 2 fuel stops a day fer that 1000 miles a day thing. As a guess 1000 mile day 5 or 6 fuel stops a day? Iron man runs REQUIRE date and time stamped fuel receipts. RIDE SAFE.

I can confirm that our girl and her rider have most definitely NOT done that! One thousand miles in a single day is a huge accomplishment, and it is even recognized and saluted with the 'Iron Butt' award. To do those ninety-nine more days... all consecutively... Well, I simply cannot fathom such a thing. Like my friend Dennis says, however, I wasn't there either, so... If he actually did do that, then he surely deserves a tip of the hat... and a thorough sanity check!!! He probably could use a fanny transplant, too.

I and many, many others hold the IBA award for 1500 miles in a day.  At that rate it would give the rider about 33 days sprinkled in the 100 for no riding at all.

Another approach would be to consider that 1000 miles in 16 hours averages 62.4 mph average.  That leaves every day with eight hours to sleep or do whatever else is needed.

1K in 24 hours isn't all that big of a deal in my mind.   But, doing it repeatedly for 100 days would require more endurance than I can muster.   I don't care how good she looks.      I'm one of those riders that believe there's no need to speed like a bat out of hell to make good time but, keep it rolling and the miles just fly by.   Lots of folks here can out ride me but, I'll never be far behind.

well then, those HD's must be awfully comfy in order to sit that long..

I drove ONLY ONCE from Florida to WI non stop all the way thru besides poddy/food breaks and the last 2 hours I had to have my wife drive the car for I was seeing triple and falling asleep almost at the wheel.  To do that on ANY motorcycle is hard to believe.

I have done the IBA Bun Burner Gold.   1,540 miles in 23 hrs 10 minutes.   I would have to pull the BS card on this.   Only thing is his Harley Dealership swears they did all his maintenance and tires.

Also....I just looked at the Iron Butte Association ride finishers and he is listed as a certified 100,000 miles in 100 days finisher.   You guys that have Iron Butte Awards know how they check you out from a-z on their rides.   They dont cut you no slack at all.   You have to turn in all gas receipts and your mileage on the odometer each time you gas.   The gas mileage and time frames have to all add up and be precisely accurate.   If you stop for any reason (store...food....maintenance...etc) you have to show how long you weee stopped between those two gas receipts.  They are very strict and really check out witnesses and everything you turn in.    If the IBA believes him....guess I'm gonna have to believe it.

He had a specific Harley dealership outside Houston that worked with him and made sure everything was ready and handled quickly for every service he needed....

Like putting your miles in on a 1/4 mile track.

It's kind of boring, but the footing is good and safe with no trip hazards, and it's much easier keeping track of time and distance.

And picking the right locations/routes could really cut down on the traffic hazards.

Was wondering how many set of tires and what brand he was running on.

All in all good for him but how much did he really *see* and take in. That’s a lot of time and miles to just zip on by.

He evidently purchased a maintenance plan from his Harley dealership that covered all scheduled work (Dang, wish we could get something like that! We're lucky if a Honda dealer will even change the tires on our old girls now )
