Just noticed this morning as I was getting read to take the bikes for a ride (it was sunny and 78 here) that the Valkyires low beam headlamp element was not working.  Hi beam worked fine.

Got down my box of Valkyrie spares and saw a bulb box with a bulb in it.  Looked unused.

Later today, as I was going to take the aforementioned ride, I took the headlamp apart and put in the new bulb.  Bummer, it appears I kept the box with the bulb I replaced some time ago so it was not new (high beam worked though.

So, the question is.... is there an alternative to the Honda Valkyrie Headlamp bulb?  Something I could get locally.  If not I will try and order one tomorrow (assuming they are still in stock somewhere).

Thanks.

If I remember correctly, it's just a common automotive bulb available at Wally World or Auto Zone. I know I had to buy more than 1 over the years.

I use these. Available stop Walmart or auto parts places.

Almost as bright as the silver star but lasts much longer. Plug and play. Easy.

Its funny, every Walmart within 30 miles has one except, except the one in my town (or the town nearby).   Ahh will check the auto supply places.

Advanced Auto has one.  Its $21 vs the $13 at Wally World.      Ahhh the way things work out.

Be very careful to NOT touch the glass portion of the bulb while handling and installing.

THanks.. I actually knew that but I had forgotten .. In other words, I did touch the old one.   Will were wear rubber gloves from now on.

Its tough getting old  Grin Grin

But, most of the time it beats the alternative.

Edited to correct typo.

Both Honda dealers in my area are over 30 miles from me but I had considered checking them out.  So first, today, I checked Partzilla and yes they have one in stock.  Not the same part number as the one I have but.....

Difference is price.  $35 from them.  Think I will go with the suggested alternative.

I you touch the glass, or even if you don’t, clean with alcohol and a Kleenex before installing.

Task done.  Headlight works.   There were some "interesting" things on the re-assembly.

I was having a problem getting one of the screws in that hold the lamp on to the main housing.  I got the one on the right side started.  But the one on the left did not want to thread into the hole.

It got dropped.   Now, I keep spring loaded mouse traps (the enclosed kind) around my three bikes.  I have had some "mouse" stuff in the ST's air filter.

Anyway, the left screw got dropped and of course, as Murphy's law would have it, it hit a mouse trap, and the trap closed.   Well the next interesting thing is then I picked up the trap and shook it and it rattled.

I thought good golly miss Molly.......  I opened it and the "sleeve" insert thing was in there but not the screw.  I began to search for the screw.  The area is not fully "open" and has stuff like boxes around and they sit under a table.  I searched an area about five feet from the bike.  Nothing.. I looked under the front tire, nothing.

I decided to move the bike out of the way totally and where the front tire was, is were the screw was sitting.   It must have been sort of propelled under the tire.

Took her for a short ride to a nearby town, because I could, and all was good.  I also got to clean the back side of the windscreen.

Thanks again for all the advice.
