I guess people really are that stupid. I'll bet that bottom double trunk piece is well above the load limit of that trailer, I'd guess more than 15k lbs.

Looking at the photo, twice.  I find the tie downs worked.  Have seen loads of timber laying on their sides that weren't tied down that good.  Yead the tires and axel failed big time.

     When I still ived in East Texas a trucker had made a left turn and his entire load of 2x4s ended up on the right shoulder. Had 1 two inch strap on each bundle!  uglystupid2 Should have had 3 two inch straps on each bundle. RIDE SAFE.

Honestly, I doubt those tie downs were ever tested during a very short trip on a really overloaded trailer.   Probably pulling that trailer with some mini-pickup or SUV.   Roll Eyes

We had the same kind of thing around here. The trailer sat on the side of the road about 2 weeks. Went by one day and a county crew was off loading the trailer to haul it all off. Don't know if they ever found the owner.
