Its a new issue a day with my I/S now.
My brake lights (I have the ones in the trunk, one on the rear fender and 2 mounted in my bags (operate as brake/turn signals).
They're on all the time.
I removed the front brake lever to get to the switch, but couldn't find where to adjust, so I cleaned the contacts and removed the rear brake switch, but it can only be adusted and even when fully disconnected from the rear brake pedal the lights stay on.
I haven't done anything new with the exception of removing the radio unit.
Is a short possible?
I've checked my fuses and they're all good.
All 4 brake lights (trunk, 2 bags and fender are run off the main wire with the trunk spliced in for quick disconnect.
Any ideas?
I'll trace each wire later tonight after work, but as of now I'm stuck.

Im unable to locate teh 2 pin yellow connector that the service manual references as the rear brake switch...yet.

Sounds like it could be a short crossing up the running lights and brake light circuits, or a connector is crosswired.

Have you checked the adjustment on your foot brake pedal?  Behind the brake swingarm is an adjustment bolt that will allow the arm to swing more and disengage your brake light switch.  Had the same trouble last year.

Not uncommon for the rear brake pedal switch to go out. Unplug it and see if they stay on. If not, that switch either needs adjusted or replaced.

Daniel,

I will check the rear brake switch when I get home this evening?
I unplugged the front switch by the lever and they stayed on.
Is there a plug/connector under the seat to disconnect?
When I adjusted the bolt under the foot pedal there was no change (lights remined activated).
TIA

The light switch on the rear brake is an old style spring loaded switch, the type Honda has been using for decades.  They are prone to stickiness and intermittent failures.

If you've had any experience with the bike brake pedal being pushed in it will cramp the whole action of the brake light switch. There is very little clearance there to begin with, what with the brake pedal spring and all being so close to the exhaust.

You can pull the rubber boot off of the switch and get some wd-40 or something the same and spray and work the switch by hand to get it to the point where it starts to work as it is supposed to.

Insure that the rear brake light switch is working properly before going on to more complex avenues.

John U. You are the winner!!!
I checked the current from the bike through the wire path when I got the connector under the rear fender I found my brake light wire and my running light wire exposed and touching. So the brake light wire was getting the "always on" current from the running light wire .
My switches are find...and a lot cleaner now too.
Apparently the wire hang too low under the fender and the friction from the rear wheel melted the wire coverings exposing them and creating the short.
I'll cut them and connect them using hooks on the side of the fender rather than over the tire.
Thanks to all you guys.
