Nobody likes running the 3 twisted sisters in the Texas hillcountry more than me but it is a dangerous roads.   My Harley buddy I travel with was there with a group of 9 bikes last Friday i think and on 336 one of them crashed and had to be lifelighted to San Antoine with a rib piercing his kidney.   After surgery docs said he should be ok.   Think he is an older guy and is from Louisiana.  I love going there….awesome roads…..be carefull out there guys and gals

Good to hear the guy is gonna be OK.

I was out there last August and was really disappointed in the condition of the roads.  There were turns where I had to make the decision to either ride on loose gravel or bare tar.  Not good choices while navigating switchbacks with huge drop offs looming!

337 between Vanerpool and Leakey was closed due to a bridge being out.  335 was mostly gravel on the southern end due to recent road "repairs" making that section miserable to ride.

Nevertheless, that area is one of the most beautiful places in the state...

Im new to the group.  Lived in Kerrville most of my life.  Been driving that area for awhile.  I agree the roads have disappointed me with the conditions.  My favorite ride is off Hwy 39 from 83 back to Hunt and then Ingram.  Lots of low water crossing and the scenery is great.  337 from Vanderpool is great but have seen several crashes out there.  Love any ride around here.  Another favorite is out of Comfort towards Old Tunnel #9 to the Bat caves and then Fredericksburg.  Safe travels.

Did the 3 Sisters this past weekend.  Dang was I under-prepared!  It was freezing cold at night, and I didn't download maps ahead of time.  It never ocurred to me that I would lose signal and have no maps, gps, or phone.   I grew up a country boy, but I see that I have become citified!   LOL.   Here's my sad story if anyone wants to see it:  https://youtu.be/6UTOrRDRaPY

Next time I'll leave earlier, arrive at my campsite before dark, and bring more blankets!!

Thanks for sharing your adventure!

I can relate to the Frio Canyon Motorcycle Stop/Bent Rim Grill being closed when you least expect it.  I guess they want us to call ahead.

Ride safe!

Hey F-stop, you have a Valkyrie with a real Valkyrie's name?    That's pretty cool.  I'm thinking of a name for mine right now so I'm noticing everyone's names at the moment.  Was kinda toying with Sigrun for mine.

yeah, I'm so citified by now that I'm used to everything being open late, I guess.  It never even crossed my mind they'd be closed while it was still daylight out!   I'll have to do this run again with better planning.

Cheers!

Watched the video....you are hooked...ha.  I gave been there many times but love going there from Tomball, Tx at least once a year.   I can tell that you REALLY enjoyed yourself!   Good on ya!   F Stop lives there I think and gets to ride there a lot.   My name is on many rocks in the pile...ha

We usually stay at a cabin rental in Bandera.  Get up and tour great roads over to Utopia's Lost Maples Cafe.   Then do the Three Twisted Sisters and back down through Hunt Tx to ingram to Kerrville and catch Highway 16 back to Bandera.  Great ride.

I wish I lived there!   Wink

We load up the toy hauler and spend a week or so (almost) every summer at an RV camp ground across the Rio Frio from Garner State Park.  Ride early in the morning while it's cool, then float the river later in the day when it's hot.  (it's a system that works!)
