Thanks all.  I talked to Smokinjoe yesterday, he said they are full up with damn Yankees, so Henry it sounds like you waited too long and I'm the last damn Yankee allowed in.
...
Actually, everyone that I know from Michigan might sound like a Yankee but they don't act like one.
...

Michigan supplied almost 100,000 union troops during the war between the States.  That amounted to about 25% of the male population.

Just an observation, but a large percentage of the Southern population today are descended from northerners who migrated south.

I didn't say that they weren't Yankees.

I said that the ones I had met didn't "ACT" like Yankees.  Evil

It is likely that very few of Michigan's population are Southerners who migrated north.  I'm pretty sure Michiganders are Yankees.   Wink

Not sure of the #'s but I had an uncle that moved from VA to Michigan in the 50's to work for the auto industry.

He had quite a few friends there that had done the same.

Yes, Kansas was a union State.  The entrance of Kansas as a free state was one of the sparks initiating the War Between the States.

Thanks all.  You are all welcome to stop by anytime, but it would be best to call first, I'll be spending time here, NOLA, and Michigan.
