I am getting the itch to buy another truck....I sold a perfectly good '99 Mazda B3000 to GA Mike about 3 years ago....it was paid for and all, but I didn't want it to just sit around not being driven.....I can pull my trailer with the Kia if I need to haul anything substantial, and I have a rack that goes in the receiver on the back of the Kia that I use for hauling off trash, BUT......it sure would be nice to have an old "beater" truck that I could use for trash hauling duties or for when I might want to haul something without having to hook up the trailer......

I had this 1990 Ford Ranger from 1996-1999 that I had traded in to buy the Mazda.....it was a very tight little truck......it only had a 4 banger in it, but it got around 28mpg in the city and about 32mpg on the hwy.....It was a 4 speed over drive and it didn't have a lot of power, nor did it have power steering or and A/C unit.....but it drove like a champ even though it had close to 200,000 miles on it.....I paid $3,600 for it back in '96.....I like the 1990/1991 model years because of the square fronts on them....

If that truck would have had A/C and maybe power steering, I might have kept it.....I had also wanted an extended cab back then, so that's why I bought the Mazda.....

I have been looking at some Rangers for sale online and have found this one about 160 miles from me in Manchester, GA....I like that it has an extended cab....I may call the dealer on Monday and see if they still have it.....I'm sure it probably has "176,000ish" miles on it and not the 76,000 they claim.....I'm not sure if I'm crazy for wanting another truck or not, I just know that once I get an idea in my head, I usually act on it...... Undecided....... cooldude

Good luck, seems they want a mint  Shocked nowadays for economical trucks. BTW, is the guy by the truck the person you sold it to? coolsmiley

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Go for it!  cooldude  Kits go a s-10 and likes it. Its only 2wd tho. I had a 4wd S-10 in the mid-90s and it was a nice truck. Now I'm on the prowl for a mid 80's K-1500 or K-2500 Chevy. Maybe next year. I'll trade her s-10 in on it and let her drive my 04 Z-71.

SS: That '91 xtra cab has a 4 Liter V6. It's a hot rod so don't expect very good mileage. My buddy's 4.0 Ranger gets 20 on the highway if he's lucky.

Go for it Stanley. I tried going "truckless" for a few years. Bought a trailer to pull behind Carolyn's "toaster" when I needed to haul something. I know where you're coming from man. Ya just can't beat a truck.  cooldude

Yes....I saw that.....my Ranger had the little 2.3L? 4 banger....the Mazda had a V6 3.0L that got 17mpg in town, and 22mpg on the road.....it only had around 160hp.....my Kia is a 3.8L 262hp engine....it gets 17 in town and 22 on the road.....it just has a LOT of "git-up-and-go" in it!!..... cooldude

Stan, just buy one of these w/a Hemi.   It gets 17 on the highway at 65 MPH.
You got lots of TOP END & very quickly it is there, turn off the traction control & lots of poop out of the hole, and to make gas mileage the V8 converts to run on 4 cylinder whenever there isn't a power need, this winter my average and all in town, taking wife to work and picking her up do to all the snow, I am averaging 15.7 MPG, not bad for a big Hemi......  Seems they told me it had 399 HP.    I bought it for the Hemi, not the HP.  When they 1st came out w/a Hemi, I wanted them to put one in the Dakota, but no happen, Ram 1st, Durango next & then they put it in the firkin Jeep.       Then they bounced over to the cars, they skipped the Dakota.     Bummer.......

If you decide to ride out to Manchester to take a look I'll ride with ya. Usually try to  get to Manchester couple times a month but haven't been in a while. The Valk needs to stretch her legs and Hwy 36 is a decent ride. It's about 1 1/2 to 2 hours from my house.

I'm still debating whether or not to buy an old truck....I'd call first to make sure they still have it though if I decided to go take a look at it.....I'll let ya know what I decide... cooldude
