does anyone remember what the part number is for the automotive brushes that fits the Valk? and where to get them?
i am going to go ahead and pull the alternator and clean it up and put new bearings in it and would like to get the brushes also....

somebody wrote that NAPA carries them. maybe a board search will help

Careful there!!!

Been an occasional comment about breaking bolts trying to remove the alternator.

I.ve had good luck removing the alternator after a good warm up.

Looked for my old paper work. Its gone, computerr crash. The alternator is a common series from the maker. The difference, as I remember it is the interface where it mounts to the engine. If you can track down the maker and series I think any brush set for that series would fit. As will the diodes and regulator. Stator may be the same also but it hardly ever goes bad.

I seem to recall that it is a Hitachi alternator... but very well could be wrong on that.  I do know that I have seen it somewhere who it was that manufactured the alternator.  If you get that it may be easy to get brushes and other internal parts from there.  If you don't want to go the OEM route you can get parts here: MARS link

The alternator on my 2001 I/S is a Hitachi model LR140-722, there is also another number on the tag that "might" be the regulator/diode assembly (OZD) not sure though about that.

I got some brushes and a rotor from Ken at MARS.  He is a good guy, and very helpful.  Hearty reccommend from here!
