i just got off the phone with garmin and was told that it is proper procedure for them to give you back a used g.p.s. unit when the two they sent you less than 8 months ago would no longer work. the 1'st g.p.s. unit  was purchased right before inzane 9. and in less than one week that one took a crap and died. they sent a second one and surprise, surprise that one took a crap and died also. well i just got the 3'rd one in less than 8 months and found that is is recently overhauled {used}. so i called them and they said they did nothing wrong and it is procedure. to spend top dollar on what is suposed to be the best motorcycle g.p.s. on the market and to end up with a used one is infuriating. if i wanted a used g.p.s. i would have bought a used one amd saved  half the price. tickedoff tickedoff tickedoff tickedoff tickedoff tickedoff                                   now if the snow would just melt and the temps would rise above 30 degrees i might be able to ride. now its motorcycle related.

Wow what a croc! Can you return it to the store and get your 'total' money back? Or even from garmin? Boy I'm glad I still use a map and compass!  crazy2

If the truth of the matter is correct that it is repaired, it is probably in better shape than the new ones....

I returned one once, received a rebuilt one and it still works, this was like 6 or 7 years ago....    Buddy of mine bought a new one about the time I sent mine in and he has had 2 replacements also, new ones, and the last one is getting ready to take a dump....

When you think of used, instead of rebuilt, you are in a different ball game..

Just like a used vs rebuilt engine.....  Used, cheap, or rebuilt expensive, just as good as new or even better in some cases.    Rebuild is all by hand, not robots....

I really do understand your fruistration given the expectation, but the first thought that occurred to me was, wasn't the unit you sent them used when they got it?   Wink

I've always had good experience with Garmin support.

RJ is dead on.  I know a guy that worked for IBM for 30 years.  He claimed that you can't go wrong with something that has been refurbished.  The item has been thoroughly checked out, where a new item isn't.
So, I would bet the next one you get will work for a long time.
