Well....wish me luck.....my place in Sargent Texas is gonna be about 20 miles from the eye of
Hurricane Beryl.  Its a cat 1 Hurricane.   My place is a one story and about 6-7 ft above water level and the tidal surge prediction is 4-7 ft surge.   85-90 miles per winds predicted.   More worried about tidal surge than wind damage.   Gonna get bad there about 3am tonight.   We live in Tomball Tx but really like going to Sargent fishing.
There is a Valkyrie living in Sargent.   I see it occassionally.   Hope he protects it best he can.
Well...here we go..........

Hay and Hot Glue are good.  Some down trees and limbs, no power, but have the generators running and able to keep the fridges running.

Just nkow got the internet back.  ATT has been down since the storm.  My place in Tomball Tx did well.  Had around 80 mile per gusts.  Lots of big trees down everywhere.  My two big oak trees held up thank goodness.

My fish camp in Sargent Tx didnt do so good.   Havent been there yet...going tomorrow or Friday.  Going when my BIL can as he is taking his skid steer there.   We think our ground fl cabin got water inside.   My BIL travel trailer was skooted off its slab and tried to flip but the chain link fence stopped it from going all the way over.   Thats what pictures from neighbors is showing.   My trailer looks to be still in tact and in place.   Lots of travel trailers in the area are flipped over.    We have a lot of broken windows on the cabin.   Wont know more till we get there.   Major damages in the area.  Winds were around 95 mph there.   Several houses in the area collapsed.

Could have been worse.   We will see when i get there

Digger, we need to see pics, if possible.  Sargent got hit just about the hardest except right at the coast.  I am in Pearland, but no real damage except a few small limbs down from our 45 year old oak trees.

Bat signal went out to Detroit for expert help - so Son Ryan is en route to Houston to keep the Turbines operational. Poor guy has been working 7/12s at least 5 years.. I never see him & rarel chat with his demanding schedule.
Best luck my southern friends, stay cool & hang in there  cooldude

Thanks to Ryan and many others from out of state, we got our power back last Thursday around Noon.  Today, there are still over 5,000 houses without power.  Centerpoint Energy has to answer the question as to why the linemen were not staged nearby much earlier.  It appears that they waited until the storm was upon us to request the help.  Additionally, the Harris County judge, Lina Hidalgo, was asked by the State of Texas if the County needed any assistance, to which she answered "We're good".  They asked her every day after the storm passed and one day she didn't even answer the text message.  Now, debris cleanup efforts are running way behind, because she says that we cannot afford it and must evaluate bids from contractors.

Jimmy: talked to Ryan & told him he was mentioned here & that you said “thanks”  cooldude  He says most power should  already be restored but there is still another 3 weeks worth of work to do…
He is 3rd generation Turbine Repair guy, works for Siemens.  I did my Turbine repair stint in my 20s with Detroit Edison, my dad was Edison maintenance superintendent/ Turbine authority.  Ryan’s making noise about possible career change, don’t blame him, he’s never home works killer hours.
Glad y’all are back on line, good luck with clean up efforts!!!
