Adding a weather banner to your signature line.

This is how its done, in as simple a form as I can make it.

Go to Weather Underground, put in your zipcode. On your weather page, scroll down until you see "Free Weather Stickers® for Your Homepage!" Click that link.

That will take you to the Weather Banner page. Here's an example

Pick the banner you want, and click on it to show the code which will look like this:

Code:
<a href="http://www.wunderground.com/US/OK/Oklahoma_City.html?bannertypeclick=big2">
<img src="http://weathersticker.wunderground.com/weathersticker/big2_cond/language/www/US/OK/Oklahoma_City.gif"
alt="Click for Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Forecast" border="0" height="60" width="468" /></a>

We need to select the important part of that code, NOT ALL OF IT.  What we want is the URL to the weather banner graphic itself.  We want the part right after src="  and ending in .gif

In the above example, that would be this:

Code:
http://weathersticker.wunderground.com/weathersticker/big2_cond/language/www/US/OK/Oklahoma_City.gif

Highlight that portion, from YOUR weather banner page, and copy the text.

Go to your Profile:

Profile -> Forum Profile Information

Scroll down to the Signature line.  We're going to paste that URL we copied earlier, but we have to add some IMG tags before and after it.  Image tags look like this (the beginning and end)

Code:
[img] [/img]

So we paste in our code, with IMG tags at the beginning and end.  It will look like this:

Code:
[img]http://weathersticker.wunderground.com/weathersticker/big2_cond/language/www/US/OK/Oklahoma_City.gif[/img]

The result:

Please do NOT start a new thread about the banner.  Reply here if you need help, or need to ask questions.  Do NOT start a new post to test the banner.  If you got it right it will show up on ALL your old posts.  If you click on SUMMARY in your profile, it will also show there.  No need to post 4 new messages testing if it worked.

Why all the fuss about these Weather Banner things? If I want to know what the weather is, I step out on the deck & take a look. I don't need to know what the weather is anywhere else cuz that's not where I am.  uglystupid2

I danced all around it, but not having the finite detail of the process was the problem.  A clear explanation is better than just having somebody doing it for you with no explanation. All is well. Thanks!!!  Grin

Big ole question here....

Do ya'll realize that when you make a change to your profile it propagates it in all of your prior posts, so ya don't have to keep saying attempt # 2, and so on.

Make your change and post a message.

It no work, change the profile again and just look at the previous post ya made.  If it worked, it will be there.  If it didn't change your profile again and then go look at this same post ya made, just keep looking at that one post till ya get it done correctly.

Same thing on sending out a post that says, hey jimbob, ya got an email.    Just click on the message tab and send em a message.    NO need to waste band width and space......

Okay, Scottie, Connie, Carl and Lori I'll shut up, I figure I has done stepped over the limit here..  But, I just wanted to point this out to people.  It was one fo the 1st things I learned about this style of board and it is a great feature..... coolsmiley tickedoff 2funny

GOOSE, try this link

http://weathersticker.wunderground.com/weathersticker/big2_cond/language/www/US/VA/Roanoke

Pick up the link to use off of the properties of the banner it displays.
