My son just bought a new Bronco. One of the extras is a one day driving school in either New Hampshire, Tennessee, Texas, Nevada, or Utah. Ford supplies the vehicles, lunch, and dinner. There's no cost for the purchaser but passengers pay about $400.

I met my son in Moab for the school, located in an incredible area adjacent to Arches National Park. It was a full 10 hour day and more intensive than I expected. We had a blast. If you buy a Bronco (even the little Sport) it's well worth going.

I've never been there, but I bet I've seen the area in about 50 old Westerns.

I live in a rolling hill but not mountainous area (and snow deeper than an inch is only every 20 years).  These 4-wheel drive monsters are all over the place here in suburbia, and I wonder if many ever actually use the 4 wheel drive.  Look cool though, no doubt.

Bronco Sport is a Ford Escape  Roll Eyes
I mentioned that to the instructor. He claimed the Sport was much more capable than its sibling due to things like a locking rear diff (via dual clutch packs) and more ground clearance. He said he's driven the Sport through the same terrain we did.

But the 'real' Bronco (based on the Ranger platform) is definitely more capable. It has more clearance, front and rear locking diffs, and a sway bar disconnect to make the suspension more compliant on uneven terrain. This was a demo of the disconnect.
