Got a call from Laser Pat that Tx Deb had received a text from Maris that she had gone down with Sam on the back!   Just spoke with her moments ago and all is well...thank God!!!

Apparently she hit a slick spot while leaving Jim's Restaurant in Austin and went down sliding about 20ft.  She came off and saw Sam pass her up during the slide still hanging on to the Valk.

Everyone is fine and the bike sustained minimal damage.  Maris said her highway peg will need to be replaced.  Sam said it was kind of "fun" watching the sparks fly.

She called from Fayetville during a brief stop on their way home, so I'm passing this information on just in case you only heard the first part.

Once again...Thank God!!!

I'm glad no one was hurt.  The highway peg can be replaced, any scratches, etc., can be handled as well.  The main thing is that mother and son are doing well and on the way home.

Wizard and I made it home around 1, only got a slight bit of misting along the way.  So, we made it home safe and dry.  I'll start into trying to get my bike's systems reset tomorrow.  For today, it's good to be home.  No matter how much I love to be on the road, it's always good to be home.

I carry my son around too, my biggest fear is going down with him on the back. Glad all is well.

I have to say, I ride with the BEST group anywhere! Sam and I are fine. He really handled it well. Kept his feet on the pegs...grabbed the high side hand rail...and he and the bike slid right on past me...not the best thing a Mom can see. This was definatly an eye opening experience. Thanks for all of the support. I love you guys!  Smiley

Just crawled around under the bike and inspected it.  Only two contact points -- well scraped -- the left highway peg bracket (just a little below the engine crash bar -- which did not make any contact) and the left lower bag crash bar.  These performed as designed and prevented additional damage to the bike, and even more important prevented the bike from going over far enough to trap either Maris' or Sam's leg.  The tilt switch killed the engine as it was supposed to.

Sam did a great job keeping cool hanging onto the highside grab bar and keeping his feet on the pegs and legs in tight to the bike.  He has suffered much more damage from his roller blades and bicycles than he did from this slide.

Can't say enough about Maris' courage to shake it off and get back on the bike and ride it on in.  A lot of blessings received during this incident.  Can't be thankful enough.
