We are at a vrbo in Cody.  Visited the grave of mountain man "Jeremiah Johnson" yesterday.  He was buried in Los Angeles and years later a 7th grade class somewhere started a petition to have his remains brought here to Cody.  At the reburial here in Cody there was a ceremony and Robert Redford was one of the pall bearers.

If you’re hanging out in Cody for a few days, do yourself a favour and go check out the museum if you’ve never been there before! I’m not a museum guy, but it was recommended to me to go have a look and I believe it’s well worth your time.

I’ve seen the movie many times, never knew Jeremiah Johnson was a real person. It never even occurred to me to see if in fact he was or the movie was based on a real story.

They called him "Liver Eating Johnson".....after the Indians killed his pregnant squaw and son he waged war on them.   After he killed the enemy he would cut out their liver and take a bite out of it and leave it in plain sight to unnerve the enemy....or so the story is told at his gravesight.

After I posted I did a little reading on his story and came across that nickname he was given. When I get time I’ll dig a bit deeper into his story.

Mountain Men, cowboys, thieves and robbers and of course the legendary lawmen and gunfighters all make up a great portion of the history of this nation. Good stuff!

I rode the Beartooth a couple weeks ago! Told my wife when I got home that I’d like to take her and the truck down there in Sept. I’d take her on the bike but not sure what the weather does up there at that time of year as it wasn’t the best two weeks ago! A squall blew in producing high winds rain and hail! Sat at the rest stop for an hour and it cleared off so the ride was once again enjoyable.
