How does one go about bypassing the switch so the bike can be started in any gear ?

Why delete a safety item?

Like Sandy asks, why?
Years ago, while on a ride in rural NY to a Halloween corn maze with about 15 bikes, the leader on his 1200 Goldwing stopped to discuss the route with his buddy. He put his stand down but never got off the bike.
After discussions, he took off and at the next left hand sweep, ended his ride in the gully.
He forgot his stand was down.
That's when I really appreciated Honda safety engineering.

While I agree with the others, if this is a non-permanent, for test question, the answer is jumper the contacts on the connector, Green to Green/White. Just don't leave it that way.
BTW, the answer is on the schematic in the service manual.

OK, that makes sense, now. You could just unplug it, so it thinks the stand is always down and splice the wires so it's always up. You could cut the cable from the switch to the harness and jumper the wires near the harness connector, under the frame where the seat mounts, then just discard the switch and the rest of the cable. Look at page 19-16 of the service manual.
