That’s great Kieth. I was really hoping to make it this year, life got in the way. So glad y’all had good weather and a great time. Waiting for the pictures and again hope to make next years. Thanks for putting this together.

It was cool Jim, the guy got it out of TX. I'd never seen one before either! It was a very cool ride!

Keith, (and everybody else who attended) Other than the problem with Gene (I didn't invite him, and he should not be riding with a group) I really did have a good time. When we left on Sunday, one of Angy's outrigger tires was flat, and neither the Inland station nor Circle K had working air pumps. We limped it over to US 19 in Capps, and my Wife brought our trailer up there, and hauled Angy and her bike home. Gene rode home alone without any problems, and once we loaded the bike, we grabbed a snack at Arby's and headed South. we were all home about 4:30. My solitary ride went well, as I was able to use my cruise control most of the way. Maybe Roxie will come with me next year, and Angy will stay home. Roxie and I can ride without all the drama, and she rides well in a group. It was great to see familiar faces, and to meet some new people.

Not to intrude too much in a FL Chapter thread, but I have experience riding in a group with a guy that shouldn't.
I long ago used to regularly ride with an SCRC chapter out of Leesburg VA. Good bunch of guys and riders. One day, the guy ahead of me was all over the road, breaking the stagger, goofy footing his stops and so untrustworthy I gave him plenty of space.
He finally slowed down so much in the middle of the pack, it was like there was two separate rides going on, so I blasted by him and caught up to the tail of the group ahead. At the next rest break, the ride leader (who was a bit of a little Napoleon) gave me a hard time time about it.
You broke the stagger.
No I didn't, I just caught up with the main group.
You will maintain stagger at all times in our group.
No I won't. That guy is unsafe at any speed and is a hazard to anyone near him.
You will do what I tell you.
No I won't.
OK, you're off the ride and unwelcome on our rides.
Fine by me. Let that guy keep riding with your group and it's just a matter of time until he hurts someone.
And I never rode with them again.

Jess, I had a talk with the culprit as we left for home on Sunday (more that one of the group had spoken to him over the weekend) I told him quite bluntly that, if he didn't keep up with me, I was absolutely NOT going to slow down and wait for him.

Some guys aren't good riders, and some guys used to be but have aged.
I served as a part time Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) instructor in the Air Force.
Even if a guy has the MC endorsement on his license, I've recommended some guys to retake this course as a form of refresher training. They don't have to pass it (if they already have the endorsement), but just taking it can be a big help in a "struggler's" riding ability.

The "guilty party" in this situation will be 81 in a couple of months. He has been riding since he was 8. I have ridden in a small group with him a couple of years ago, and he has definitely gone downhill. The biggest problem was that he completely ignored everything anybody told him, until I told him flat out that I was not going to slow down for him. BTW, I was NOT pushing it. 5 mph over the limit, MAX, and within a couple of miles, he was 1/2 a mile behind, and it would take him 3 - 5 miles to catch up. Nobody in our group complained to me about him, and I just took it upon myself to try to keep an eye on him, because he had no idea what route we would be taking, and I wasn't sure that he could find his way back to the Hotel, since he doesn't have a GPS nor a Smart phone.

I suspected it was an age issue. That day is coming for all of us. Unfortunately. I've still got all my skills (and mind) working for me. Though I've reduced my sporting behavior some, and reduced my distances and duration of rides (local). And I'm happy with that (and not giving it up any time soon). My mom only gave up her license at 95, and she was still a decent driver. But she had trouble seeing well enough, and needs a walker to get to and from her little truck. The (remaining) family was quite happy she did (me too).

It was great to see you, Don, and everybody else. New and old. I’ve always enjoyed the Tallahassee ride and hope it continues for years to come and I can still ride, it. James and I took off a bit earlier than planned due to the possibility of rain on the way south. I too used my cruise control on the GoldWing set it for 80 and James was stuck on my back the entire time. He was OK with the speed. We did obey the speed limit in several towns. believe we made it home in 3 1/2 hours. Unfortunately we did it rain as we got into Hernando County for about 10 miles. I was surprised how well the gold wing diverted the rain to the sides, I did raise the windshield an extra 2 inches too. We did have a great bunch of guys riding this year. I hope they come back next year. I did send Patti a postcard from the park on Saturday, she got it today. We are trying to resurrect an old tradition.

Thanks for the report Eddie, Glad James could follow behind you as long as he did. Sounds like a nice 3 1/2 hr ride home with a small amount of rain. Your Sunset orange GW is a beautiful bike. Glad you sent Patti the card, I'm sure she was too! I look forward to next year as well and counting on seeing you again. Take care buddy.
