I don’t know if 78 is considered young or old anymore.

I wasn’t a Dead Head but I did enjoy the music of The Grateful Dead and they certainly left a mark on the culture and history of music.

It was great to see the Empire State Building was lit up last night in Bob’s memory. cooldude

I noted that one... I think I'm one of the younger people to have seen the Dead live (W/ Jerry Garcia) in 1988... Glad I was able to experience that.

I recall I had multiple offers to buy LSD before I even parked my car... Heh...

I never saw the fascination for the Grateful Dead. I like a couple of their songs but never got into the whole Dead Head thing.

No I did not, I think that was ‘77 or ‘78, I was too young (12 or 13) and my parents were far from Dead Heads Grin

I never saw them in concert but I enjoyed their music.

I remember you’ve spoken about that concert a couple times on here.  cooldude cooldude

There’s nothing wrong with that, I know people who didn’t like the Beatles, Johnny Cash, Jim Morrison, Elvis, Neil Young or Sinatra, it doesn’t make you strange or anything.

I saw them in 1971 at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colorado. I wasn't a big fan but a friend had an extra ticket. The part I remember best is how many passed out people security had to carry out of the place. They were mostly girls, and two guards would grab their hands and feet and haul them up the aisle. There must have been some potent stuff floating around that day.

I was never a Dead Head, but I think part of the live experience is it wasn't a couple of their songs....

Their concerts were never the same, just multi hour jam sessions where they'd make stuff up as they went along....

(As the joke goes - "Saw the Dead last night... They played for 3 and a half hours!..... great song!")
