Now just playing the waiting game here in my section of Massachusetts. Been flurrying most of yesterday and all night. We're expecting a heavy one tonight into tomorrow; no light snow this time. Everyone stay safe. This is heart attack snow. Take breaks and don't overdo it.

Rained all day, and snowing like mad now and all night, but it's 35* (only 33* tonight) and the ground is warm and soaked and the snow is not sticking.  Hopefully true all night (though 3-5 inches is possible).  I would happily not touch my scraper, digging bar and shovel for the rest of the Winter (but they're all out there leaning on the fence).

Here in SC it's just cooling fast.  Was 52 at 3pm or so.  Now it's 37 and contining to drop while barometric is trending up.  But, it won't be as bad as last time and not as much accumulation as you are predicted to get.

A different study conducted by Franklin and his team years ago found that a shoveler’s heart rate increases up to 97% of his max heart rate, more than when the same person does a treadmill test at maximum exertion.

I do an hour on the treadmill at quick march every morning, and I don't even perspire or get wet underarms.  Unlike snow shoveling.

We got a couple inches of wet snow in the yard and roofs, but the streets and my concrete is clear.  The snow is done, but the high winds are coming.  No shoveling for me but I'll go out later with the blower and clear things off.  Hopefully this all melts off quickly with above freezing temps but no sun.

Also, my monthly natural gas bill will go in the mailbox today, and at $190 is the highest it's ever been. And I try to limit heat inside and wear warm clothes and knock the furnace down at bedtime.

Well it’s 5am Monday morning. I hope anyone else in this mess is safe, warm and in good overall shape.

It been a wicked night (to steal a little phrase from our friends in Boston) and the snow is still coming down. I really can’t tell what’s on the ground right now, the wind is really blowing and stuff just seems to be going in every direction. I’ve been up throughout the night monitoring the situation, just couldn’t sleep. Once again it’s not the snow, it’s the wind and possibly of losing power that bugs me, not that I can really do anything about it though. It’s times like this I wish I had had a transfer switch installed, but we singed a contract for a whole house generator installation 2 weeks ago. That doesn’t help me now but better late than never at this point and hopefully it will relieve future anxiety over power supply.

7pm last night the lights started flickering so I went out to start the generator and let that run for a while and we had about 5” of snow on top of 2” of slush, it was sloppy just walking in it. My neighbor across the street rolled out with his blower so I decided why not let get this crap outta here, there’s a lot more coming. So from 8-9:30pm I cleared snow. Meantime the township had a front end loader patrolling the neighborhood trying to keep the road as clean as possible. The operator was hustling throughout the neighborhood and really knew his stuff behind the wheel of that thing, he was doing a great job.

We supposedly have another 10 hours of this until it blows out about 3pm. Winds supposedly diminished slightly overnight to 26mph and are suppose to continue to drop but the gusts are still hammering us at 43mph. The power lines are really swaying and dancing around the lights keep flickering and we get 1-2 second interruptions then back to normal.

I’ll be dressing and heading out about 6-6:30 to try and clear the driveway but in this wind don’t know just what will happen, hopefully I’ll be able to move some snow somewhere and since the temps did drop maybe it’s not as wet and heavy as the stuff last night and with minimal slushy stuff.

I have a link for traffic cameras on the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway and crews have made some progress and down to blacktop in certain areas south of us but for the most part those highways are still a mess and covered.

Courts are closed all the way up to Columbia County and down to Suffolk  I feel bad for the clients who will have to wait another MONTH or more for their court dates AGAIN

We had the roof done 2 yrs ago and there is a seam leaking on the kitchen stove side with some of the tiles showing must be wet behind and my exercise room has stains on opposite wall   

still blowing 50+ gusts but snow is lighter last hour

When the plow starts coming thru I will start the blower

Sorry but I am never going to live where such a tool is needed.  For about four years I lived 30 miles south of Lake Erie.   The snow load one night (one year) actually caused our porch to collapse.  Said then, never again.

Those that like snow are very welcomed to it, you can have all of my share.  In my younger days I loved the ski slopes.  Then I learned falling down can be painful.  I have since changed my opinion.

I use my moto helmet  like with todays weather with the blowing snow ,While I was on the tractor  putting hay out.. It also works great when I'm plowing snow..

Once or twice in 35 years I shoveled snow off my two roofs (neither has a steep pitch). 

It was so deep (like 2 feet or more) I was concerned about the weight up there. 

I used a plastic shovel and carefully pushed the snow down top to bottom off the edge (no slinging it), and did not work down to the shingles (of my new roof), but a few inches above them.  My old 4" gutters came loose in spots, and were later replaced with top notch 5"ers. 

There was no shoveling the recent ice storm off my roof and the 6"s of solid ice just melted, after about a week.  The 2-3 inches of snow up there from last night is already melting off. 

I'm really tired of Winter.

Yep, ride up on the lift, slide back down on the skis (most of the time) and repeat until I couldn’t do it any more.   I used to do a lot of things I no longer do.

Well it’s over and the majority of the snow is all gone from where we need to park. All the important parts are cleared. It’s hard to gauge just what the total snow fall was for us because in some places we have drifts 4-5’ tall and other places where there’s just about 2”. My neighbor across the street has a drift in her backyard that goes up to the top of her 6’ fence. From what I can estimate I have about 18” on my deck but across the grass in the backyard it seems deeper at around 20-24” and both the deck and yard seem mostly level. Today’s jib is trying to clear the deck off.


According to our power company’s (JCP&L) outage tracker our neighborhood got real lucky, there are pockets of outages all around us with restoration time of before midnight on the 25th. Lookijg beyond our neighborhood it’s gets pretty bad through the town and into surrounding neighborhoods, towns and the next county north of us especially some of the coastal areas. Our neighborhood is 4 miles from the beach. There are outages inland from us , but the heaviest amount are in our area and it’s get worse as you get closer to the coast.

In a week, it'll be 80s.

What a difference a week makes, last Monday night I was pooped from all the snow blowing and on Saturday morning I was tossing snowballs across the street at my neighbors recycling container before pickup wearing only a tee shirt.

Old man winter is fighting to hold his grip on the weather, today it was cold all day barely 31 degrees.

Some rain is in the forecast here and there throughout the week, temps will finally be steady above mid forties daytime, above freezing at night and long range for next week is supposed to be around 60 during the days. Waiting on St. Paddy’s Day, that’s usually the point of end of winter.

Eighties the last two days and hot as hell.  I didn't want to turn the central AC on yet and my upstairs got miserable (I keep a little 110 unit in my bedroom window so I don't have to cool the whole house to sleep).

Today it rained all morning and we again have heavy wet snow all afternoon.  Not sticking on the roads, but it is everywhere else.  I worked my ass off getting my yard and scape cleaned up in all that heat, and now it's a mess everywhere again.

The furnace was off for several days, but it's back on again now.

I had some running around to do today, but my truck is shiny clean and I didn't want to get it all muddy, so I stayed home.

Did I mention I'm sick of Winter?  

At least it looks like I can ride this weekend..... maybe.

This has been an interesting week weather wise.

Monday it got up to 76F, I had the day off from work and managed to ride a couple of hundred miles.

Tuesday it was 82F.

Wednesday we saw it all:

Wednesday morning it was 45F and raining, by noon it was 36F and snowing.

The snow didn't stick to the roads but the grass got fairly covered.

By 2PM the sun had came out, the temp headed back to 50F and the snow went away like it never happened.


Today we're back into the mid 60's, by Tuesday night we're back in the low 20's.

Welcome to March in Virginia, where Mother Nature proves that she is Bi-Polar.

The Wx in West TN has also been up and down the mercury tube.   High winds from a few days ago and then a couple of days of beautiful riding weather.  Unfortunately, I had other things that needed done.  Mowed the weeds in both yards while I spread some weed and feed behind the zero turn mower.

Today is another opportunity to ride.   We’ll see if I can work it in.  Temps are forecasted to drop close to freezing again tomorrow evening.    Apparently Mother Nature is still trying to convince Old Man Winter to go home.

Glad to hear you folks on the east side are getting some good weather.  We on the other side are getting some 20-degree higher temps than normal, except for today.  Possible rain showers.   Our overnight lows have been in the upper 20's and highs in upper 50's and low 60's.  AND lots of sun.

Yes, I am enjoying the warmer weather have been on several nice rides.   Though I know we well be having water issues come summer.  No snowpack means no runoffs and no water for farmers.

Just watched a Wx report where it was forecasted that Northern Michigan can expect up to FOUR FEET of snow from this storm in the next 24 hours.

     Yesterday had it's moments. Pleasent enough day to start out BUT the afternoon and evening turned to crappola. Tornado sirens blaring same warnings on the cell phones and most tv programming interupted by the local weather folks. Bunch of us standing outside watching the sky git angrier. I wasn't back inside 5 minutes and it was raining so hard could barely make out the other buildings here. Rain quit BUT the temps fell off a cliff.
      And somewhere around O dark thirty the power went off!  The ONLY reason I knew that was the CPAP quit!  Hard enugh fer me to breath without O2 or the CPAP but with NO air flowing well wakes ya up quick like.
      And we IZ gonna be in the 80s by thursday! Looks like most of AMERICAS weather has been on a roller coaster here lately!  Oh the High here today-freezing 32F!  RIDE SAFE.

Raining it's ass off, sump pump working it's ass off, and miraculously we didn't lose power.

No high winds, no thunder and lightning and no tornadoes (so I guess that's a win).
