But, he was uninjured and walked away.  Tanker did it's job, nothing spilled or leaked. Was a load of Maleic Acid, Corrosives.

Too fast I am sure, was making a left turn and all tires were on pavement. First thought that he had got into soft berm material. Liquid loads can be very tricky to handle, once they start sloshing they will throw you all over the road.....

Does your State require a Tanker endorsement on the CDL?  In CA there are four or five endorsements to add to the CDL depending on what you're gonna be qualified to drive.  Each one requires a written test aside from the basic CDL exam.  Corrosives are heavy.  If he was full the COG would be up there. A testament to the engineering that goes into building those tanks for hauling corrosives.

Yes, we have an H endorsement which is HM,   plus a X endorsement which is HM and Tanks.

Did you happen to see the story this past fall/winter up here in PA on I-80 where that tanker broke in half going down the road?  Strangest thing I ever saw.  It looked like it was a fiberglass tube that just broke in half.  It also was full of acid...they said the emergency vehicles couldn't even get to the scene because the tires were melting on the road.

It was a Freightliner so no big lose   ;)  All kiddin' aside glad the driver made it out alright. I pull tanker's quite often and " sloshing " is not a problem with modern tanks they are baffled much better than in the old days.

I've seen alot of people that thought they were cool , but then again Lord I've seen alot of fools.

I drove tankers for years, fuel, acid, jet fuel.  liquid does move, (tank surge) but every driver knows that.  You can feel it with every gear, and with breaking.  Some are baffled, some are compartmentized, depends on what type of tank and what your hauling. Excessive speed in turns tips tankers. Once you see those rear wheels off the ground in your mirror, it's too late,  hold on and enjoy the ride, she's not coming back.
If you can't be a good example: be a WARNING!!

I am sure it was speed in this turnover. I remember weighing older tanks and having to wait for the sloshing to stop or at least settle some. Fuel type tankers have seperate compartments in them and you can haul different stuff in them. I was just glad it didn't rupture, it would have been mch more complicated then........

There is something worse than swingin beef. I had sixty thousand lbs of chickens on one day. I stopped and banged on the side of the trailer to gat half of them flying so I could across the scales without a ticket. I was almost at the weigh station going around a left hand curve and wouldn't ya know it. All them chickens landed on the right side of the trailer and over I went. How are you bsnicely
