Does anyone know if there is a model or year Valkyrie that has a chrome lower radiator hose cover . I am putting on new hoses and the Rattlebars stainless mesh hose cover is starting to look a little shabby. My 98 came with out any cover at all,I thought that I might have seen Valks with the chrome mesh covers Smiley Thank you Scooter6

The oem interstate cover is chrome, sort of.  It is actually a coil, only silver instead of black  Wink hoser

What Hoser said.  My 2001 Standard also has the silver slinky.  I notice that Direct line charges $4.17 for the hose protector for a 1998 Standard, but $26.75 for a 2001 Standard.

I believe the mesh protector is an aftermarket.

The stock Honda cover is stainless and it polishes up amazingly well. No chance or rust.

So the I/S cover is identical to the Tourer, only the coil is silver instead of black?  Where do you get the chrome or stainless steel mesh sleeve?

Do you have the PNs or a link to find it on DirectLine.  I keep overlooking it.

The PN for the 2001 is 19123-MBY-000.  For the 1998 it is 19123-MZ0-000.

I have no first-hand experience, but you might look at the following links:

Anyone have any suggestions on how to remove at least one end of the lower radiator hose without trashing it? Pinwall evidently has a technique. I removed the clamps but the hose seems to be firmly glued to the fittings. I didn't have a replacement hose so ruining the old hose means no riding for a while.
As I was pondering this dilemma it occured to me that I can't recall ever getting an old hose off without cutting it.

Thanks Jetdriver.
Have you used a pick? I'm thinking it might distort the aluminum fitting. Though the lower end fitting looks a lot tougher than the connection to the radiator.

Have you used a pick?

I used this tool on my truck.  I have not used it on the Valk, but don't see why it would be a problem if you're careful.
