I'm in also, I think, if I did it right.
Can't wait for my wife to get home and tell her what I done did, I think. Hope anyway
She's pretty much over the surprise trailer that showed up last Nov.
Is there going to be a thread looking for roomies, just in case.

We plan to trailer the Valk to our son-in-law's folks in Findley OH and then ride to Bellaire from there.  Is I-75 an OK ride up from Findley?  What can I expect in the way of traffic?  Are the bypasses for the larger cities (Toledo, Ann Arbor, Flint, Saginaw, etc) far enough out of town to be comfortable?   I have never been in that part of the country before and am trying to get prepared!  These may not feel like big towns to some of you, but to us from here in The Greater Metropolis of Tecumseh Oklahoma, they're big places. 2funny

The Michiganders obviously should be able to help better with this, but if it were me, and it will be as I am coming from Ohio also. I would run I-75 up to Toledo, pickup US 23 take that to I-96 over to Rt. 127 in Lansing. US 23 and Rt. 127 are both divided highways, but they are much more "pastoral" and "country" then I-75.

Thanks for the reminder Engemt...  Angry

In regards to I-75.  I rode down from the U.P of Michigan and came all the way down through the state on I75 and let me tell you I think we were going 90mph at rush hour to stay up w/ traffic from where I-75 and 69 cross and I-75 and 94 hwy cross...  That was the worst part of the entire ride!!!  Avoid it if possible!

Hi BudMan....if your looking to ride up x-way then take US-23...it is shorter ride with better scenery...it will join back up with I-75 by Flint, you can ride strait up to M-72 then to M-66 to M-88....if your looking for a nice two lane road...then I would suggest you ride up M-52...take it all the way up to Saginaw area then take M-46 to M-66 and strait up it may take you longer but it is a nice ride......

No, US-23 runs up from the west side of Toledo Oh....it will take you up through Ann Arbor...and run right back up into I-75 just south of Flint ...475 is a byway around Flint Michigan ....

Terry we'll need to stop in Hell for a photo-op on the ride up ....Good Lord willing that will be as close as we ever get to it again  cooldude

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hell,_Michigan

The History of Hell Michigan
Hell was first settled in 1838 by George Reeves and his family. George had a wife and 7 daughters – no reason to call it Hell yet… George built a mill and a general store on the banks of a river that is now known as Hell Creek...

The mill would grind the local farmers grain into flour; George also ran a whiskey still, so a lot of times the first 7-10 bushels of grain became moonshine.

In turn, horses would come home without riders, wagons without drivers….someone would say to the wife, where is your husband?

She’d shrug her shoulders, throw up her arms and exclaim, Ahh, he’s gone to Hell!”

In 1841 when the State of Michigan came by, and asked George what he wanted to name his town, he replied, “Call it Hell for all I care, everyone else does.” So the official date of becoming Hell was October 13, 1841...
