Ordinarily, I'd say not.  But if I was going to advertise that I got them off the shelf at a dealer where they'd been sitting around for 10 years, and try to get $600 for them, I'd probably open them for close inspection too.

Yeah, and I just sold them to him for $275 on this boards classifieds.  My bad.

You can buy them from Big Mike for $225.00 ( exchange ). I bought mine from the local Honda dealer years ago the cost when available brand new was $138.00 ...WOW...I wish I'd bought a truck-load of them back then.

When I was horsetrading with Big Mike a couple of years ago, I told him I'd unwrap this to make sure it
looked like new close up, and he told me NONONO... so that proves there are some morons out there
who would unwrap  :coolsmiley:

It's covered in clear plastic.  There's nothing you can see by unwrapping them that you can't see when they're still in their original packaging.  In my mind, if they're still in their original packaging, I KNOW they haven't been used, or even mounted on anything.  Once they're out of the packaging, you're just trusting what he says.  Sometimes that's ok, sometimes not.  To me, they're more valuable unwrapped.

When I unwrapped my Cobra radiator side covers and my Cobra reservoir covers, they'd been shrunk-wrapped so long it
was pure... heck... getting that plastic wrap off... I don't know how well chrome stays stuck to ABS...

Not to start an argument, but that's not really true.   Sure you can see any dings or big stuff, but small nicks and scratches may not be observable under the packaging.  Again, ordinarily, unopened packaging would pretty much guarantee new condition.  But if something had been sitting around for 10 years, and you were going for top dollar to a buyer who was willing to pay top dollar, I'd want to be certain the parts were perfect before I said they were.

I have got new in box/packaging stuff in the past that was not perfect, and only discovered after I opened it.  I've got stuff new covered in hard plastic that was so old and yellowed you could hardly see thru it at all (not for Valk).  Look at the picture Mike posted of the sidecover above and tell me you're certain they are perfect underneath.  Just saying.
