Good morning to all. Have noticed a strong smell of gas when riding in town or going rather slow. Bike runs perfect, and have not seen any gas leaks on the floor.......any ideas what my problem might be?

Gas cap. I've replaced 3 in 117k miles. There are "fixes" listed elsewhere but can't comment on them. Stick your nose close to the cap and hit the throttle a few times, you should get a good whiff of gas.

Guess I've been lucky...Original gas cap & seal @ 85k.
I wonder if garage storage has anything to do with it?

And, oh yeah. Only 1 petcock diaphragm replacement, but only due to my preventative maintenance retentativeness.

My bike only sits outside if I'm traveling, otherwise it's in my heated garage. Not sure why I keep having to replace these things. Guess I just don't think about it and fix it. The first one was under warranty.

Check the weep hole in the petcock to see if its not dripping fuel occasionally.  My replacement one only lasted about a year.

Check the intake o rings.

If the bike has been sitting for a while or has been winterized, the O-rings in the fuel rails can dry out and leak. My I.S. did that two years ago and again this year. Probably due to the nasty winter; it hadn't been on the road since some time in December. It was dripping like crazy yesterday, today the O-rings have swelled up again, no leaks.
