Not sure if this happens all the time but enough to be aggravating.

I'll click on an address on an add and try to send a question to the seller and when I hit send I get asked questions for my email address, name and server (or something like that) and if you don't fill it all in the email won't be sent!

Yesterday I attempted to send a question through the classifieds to a seller  that has a Yahoo account like I do.  I couldn't get it to go so I ended up copying his address and going through regular Yahoo and bypassing the classified.

I will admit I'm not the most computer literate person around.

Sounds like those sites have anti spam software to prevent automated emails like we get from the spammers when we post in the classifieds.

Marty, I think he's talking about email links on the VRCC classifieds.  It's my understanding that an email link just sends you to the email template on the machine you're on.  I don't think the links or classified board have any control beyond identifying it as an email link.

As Willow said, the email links are just html links, with the "mailto:" function in the url.  What that means is, when you click an email link, your computer tries to open the default email program on your computer.  An example would be Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.  If you don't have one of those setup to do your email, it will prompt you to fill in all the information you explained.  It works the same way other file associations do on your computer.  For example, if you click a file with .doc extention, it will try to open Word.  Or if you open a file with the extention .jpg, it will try to open the program associated with picture files.

Obviously, you use yahoo webmail, so you don't have an email client setup on your computer.

Just copy/paste the email address and go over to yahoo and send it that way.
