Well, I got my 2010 Census form and it does only have 10 questions, but some of them are interesting/confusing or don't have the correct answer options....

Question 1.   How many people were living or staying in this house, apartment, or mobile home on April 1, 2010.
Answer -  Well, it's not quite yet April 1, 2010 but I will guess and say there will be no change from the number that is here today.  ONE.

Question 2.  Were there any additional people staying here April 1, 2010, that you did not include in Question 1?
Answer -  Gee, I am getting the impression that you didn't believe me the first time you asked me how many people were living here on April 1, 2010.  I'm not counting the gal that spent the night last night, cause she might not be here again on April 1st.  Maybe I should wait til April 1st and answer the question.... then I could lie and say "April Fools".

Question 3.  Is this house, apartment, or mobile home.......
Answer -  Yea yea the bank owns it and I make payments to them.

Question 4. What is your telephone number?
Answer -  I didn't notice this answer option on the form..... but it's none of your business, I don't want any sales/scam calls or the like. That is why I am on the Do Not Call List.  And... I could change that number or disconnect it at any time, which is what I probably would have to do if I gave it to you.

Question 5.  What is person 1's name?
Answer - Well it was addressed on the envelope as "To Resident At" .... so does that constitute a legal name change?   Awww hell....   so I provide my name.

Question 6.  What is person 1's sex?
Answer -  I only saw two answer options available for this question.... Male and Female. I answered Male. But what about those people that are a little of both or those that are unsure, or maybe those that aren't getting enough or (getting too much like Tiger) and what about those that consider themselves a eunuch.   Just how accurate is this Census information going to be?

Question 7.  What is person 1's age and what is person 1's date of birth?
Answer -  I told you this 10 years ago and still have yet to get a birthday gift or card, so why should I tell you again?  Ok, so now I will be expecting a card at least.

Question 8.  Is person 1 of Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish origin?
Answer -  Not that I know of.  But I am of European heritage, my father and his parents immigrated legally and came into this country via Ellis Island.

Question 9.  What is person 1's race?
Answer -  White is a color, I don't see Caucasian American, INDY 500 or NASCAR listed and none of the others apply to me.  Ahhh, there is a "some other race" option.... but Caucasian American doesn't fit in the blocks, but  NASCAR does.... so NASCAR it is.

Question 10.  Does Person 1 sometimes live or stay somewhere else?
Answer - Gee, I guess I will have to answer NO to this one... since I don't see the option for "in the Gal's place I picked up at the bar/restaurant, MC Rally or on-line site.

>> If more people were counted in question 1, continue with person 2.
Does this mean I can count my multiple personalities ?

What I don't understand is...why can't they do the first round of census online?  Then pick up the technically challenged in the second round.  It would seem to me to be much more efficient and cost us tax payers MUCH less than killing all those trees to print/send out these forms (not to mention the postage to mail them out and back).  Mine was done today.

I'll probably be headed to the slammer, but I only answered question #1.  There are "2" people permanently at this address.

Then I added a typewritten note that stated something to the effect that the only answer required by the U.S. Constitution was to question #1 and therefor I declined to answer questions 2-10.

I'm old and I'm tired of the socialistic B.S.!!!

Well, I just answered the first question.  All they need to know.  Also what frosted me was the letter I got last week to tell me I was getting a letter this week.  Redundant.  There went twice the number of trees needed to do this project.

They can't do it on line. This works when you cut down the trees to make the paper that is used for the census. After everything is mailed out -- They count the dead trees and subtract 5.38654% and divide by 2.3.
As I understand it anyway.

I thought it was a really nice touch that a week earlier the Government sent everyone a letter explaining that the actual survey would be mailed a week later.

Joe, My guess would be that they (US Govt) never invested properly in cyber security so those numbers would be subject to a whole bunch of fraud......same reason we dont have oniline voting

I answered most of the questions... the ones already in someone else's data base... like the house stuff.

For telephone, I did print "No home telephone" which was true.  Didn't say whether or not I had a cell, though.

I agree our governemt is a big disapointment but it didn't start recently for me. Since I graduated from high school in 1976 and started paying attention to the government they have been screwing up on a regular basis. If I conducted my life like they conduct the government I would be broke, and had the sh-t kicked out of me by everyone I know.

Hehe.. my wife and I were building our house when the last census rolled around... Our kitchen and bathroom were in a
travel trailer next to the house, and we "lived" here:

The questions on the last census were a little different, but I really enjoyed filling it out:

Where do you live: South Carolina

How many rooms in your house: one

Do you have running water: no

lol   I'm actually purported to be skilled labor.  I'm a z/OS systems programmer (titled as a systems engineer, but that's a stretch).

I actually did work for the federal government for twelve years, leaving their service as a Gunnery Sergeant.  I don't think I would care much for census gathering.

Man, you are OLD if you really ARE a z/OS programmer.  When you want to move to Texas, give me a call.  We're always looking for mainframe systems guys, but most of them are too near retirement to justify the moving expenses.  Cheesy  We finally found one that is middle aged and have stopped looking, but you never know.

Why did you feel the need to build a house? Looks like all you needed was a garage/shop.

That's OK Willow, a good systems guy is worth their weight in gold, well not my weight...  hehehe

And yes, we are still in the mainframe segment, some client server apps, but major systems are still on the ole mainframe.
Kind of makes me worry though, we have had 3 new mainframes in the past 10 years and I still maintain the same old phone switch.  Something wrong there.....

I got my census and the concensus is to tell them only what I HAVE to tell them, by law of course.

Here’s your tax dollars hard at work. We received a letter telling us our census form was on its way. ?? Really, was this necessary? Then we received our census form a few days later, which was promptly filled out with the “required” information and mailed the next day. Several days later we received ANOTHER census form, which we as good law abiding US citizens discarded instead of filling out and mailing two, which I’m sure EVERYONE is doing. Now we have received a letter reminding us that it is against the law to not return our census form. Which one?? It’s nice to see responsible government spending. This brought to you by the same people that will be running your healthcare.

We got a follow-up post card from the bureau explaining how we should have gotten our census form "in the past few days", and how important it was to fill it out and return it etc.  Plus it spelled out the legalities of not returning it.
