This is my first Valk. That being said ,I have owned three wings, a v-max and several
others. My first ride today I noticed the steering is quite free on the Valk. Not quite as tight  as on the wings. Is this normal? It is an 01 . standard. It has 18k miles. I may need to snug the head bearings a bit. By free I mean when setting on the bike there is very little resistance in moving the handlebars left or right. Maby I am expecting something I may not achieve. I am just curious if anyone else experienced this. Thanks, Larry

I'd bet it's normal. I tightened mine up with over 100K on it. Same head bearings. If it rides good, no wobble, I wouldn't worry.

Besides just the handlebars turning, there is a lot more stuff moving about also.

Wiring and cables are in the mix too.

Tightening down on the bearings is not the answer to "turning freely"

You should elevate the front end and check for looseness (play) in the steering neck/stem. There should be none.

Don't equate easy turning as a symptom of loose neck bearings.

Ask if you aren't sure on how to check the front end steering.
