Final update, I think...
Its done...the fenders modified to hold the tire (should have gone to a 205/60 instead of 55 if i had known that I was going to have to modify the fenders for sure...but oh well).
Initial rides...rear braking is WAY better, bike feels more solid taking off...both obvious with more contact. however, I did a bunch of turns and aside from a little firmer hand, it did everything I asked, including almost peg scraping.
Now that its running...my box of buttons for radio and clock aren't working. I wiggled alot of parts in the process of doing this so I'm going to open up the right side cover and check connections. wish me luck...at least i am running.

EDIT: I'll admit that I hadn't read my manual yet, specifically the audio control section. There is an ON button! It worked onced I hit the ON button. Funny how that works... (Battery died while waiting for the tow)
hehe, I did the same thing with the radio... Who would have thunk that there would be an ON and OFF button on this thing~!? Mine was after taking my ham radio back off after supporting a bicycle ride down in Manvel a few weeks ago. I thought I had unplugged something under the gas tank while pulling the wire back off of the bike.
