Anyone who works in a large IT organization works with these folks everyday.  I hear as much Hindi and Urdu spoken on a daily basis as I do English.  After watching that video I now realize that the ones that aren't taking American jobs...are back in their own country wasting resources with that nonsense.

The fact that we borrow in order to send large amounts of foreign aid to both countries doesn't make me feel any better.

Ah yes, the Ministry of Silly Walks.  I hadn't thought about that in years.

Actually, I thought that was kinda cool.  They open the gates, just to close them!

We should have that type of ceremony along the Mexican border everyday.

I wonder if they go down in the “tunnels” afterwards and have a drink!!

Here's some background on this border:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wagah

And yeah, it seems kind of silly and pompous, but most cultures have some ceremonial things that look really silly to others... The changing of the guard at various locations/memorials comes to mind (Lenin's tomb in Red Square (Now the tomb of the unknown soldier), changing of the Queen's guard in the UK, our own changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier), etc...

(And no, I'm not trying to denigrate the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier or it's guard, just saying to someone not familiar with the significance of that place and the ceremony, it seems kind of odd...)

Better that they do the ceremony than have a punchup dragging the rest of us into it.

Good Post Serk.  Thanks for saying what I wanted to say.  Those that don't understand make fun.  It is ceremony...it isn't supposed to make sense to everyone.  Funny thing about the India-Pakistan ceremony (and the announcer actually hit on it)...they are imitating good old mother nature...strutting peacocks...as if their head wear didn't give it away.  Yeah...they probably embellished on the peacocks a little...but it is their ceremony...probably passed down for longer than anyone remembers.
