Last Wednesday I ordered parts for my bike.

Sounds about right.  I ordered some front brake pads from them a few weeks ago.  After a week, i emailed them and asked for the status of the order.  They stated the order was being sent out that day.  I get the feeling they are just like any other dealer...they don't stock all the parts they get orders for.  So you have to wait for the parts to get from the warehouse to HDL then they can send the orders out.

Didn’t really need the parts asap, ordering on line saves me the drive to the Honda shop (15 miles one way), dealing with the sales clerk that’s screwed up my order twice before, and the parts come to my house.

Is there another parts dealer that’s faster?

I bought over $1,000 worth of parts through HDL after the crash.  I found them to be very helpful and fast.  All parts were perfectly packaged and sent fast enough to only have that week before Christmas feeling for a short time, then boom brown pulls up.  No complaints here  cooldude

You should also keep in mind you are ridin' a dinosaur that's been out of production for seven years so shelf space on the Valkyrie get's smaller and smaller as the years roll by.

The real issue here as pointed out earlier is that the Valkyrie we all love, is an out of production motorcycle that doesn't generate the sales volume of other bikes.  Financing inventory is an expensive proposition and ultimately it is the consumer that pays for it.  For inventory that turns over quickly, it makes sense to keep a supply on hand, otherwise the vendor has to charge more to pay for the interest in financing an item that might stay on the shelf 6-12 months.

HDL has great prices on most Valkyrie parts...and if I'm not in a hurry I always buy from them.  For small items that I need quickly, I am willing to pay the additional couple of dollars from the local Honda dealer in order to get them in a couple of days.

FWIW, I stopped using them a couple years ago. Found I get faster service generally from Service Honda in Indiana, and there isn't a nickel's worth of difference in price most of the time. And, I'm farther away from them than I am from HDL.

It is a good idea to call them after placing an order to check availability(sp?).  I have had a problem or 2 but they have been very good at resolving issues.

sorry to hear about hal's wife

I ordered parts recently and forgot that the time before that I had a tire shipped directly to the DalaiLama's house in Connecticut and not my home

Darn if I didnt get an email from Dalai telling me he got my brakes and crush washers a day later

That is doggone good service in my book

Unfortunately I had to have UPS ship from his house to mine as I cant get there (2 hrs from here) anytime soon

HDL has been good for me except for the E3 fiasco when there was a strike anyone remember that one
