I'm not the most mechanically inclined.  Cheesy   uglystupid2

I have seen several suggest replacement of the normal carb springs with IS carb springs. First, what function do carb springs provide (throttle return?), and second, how are the IS springs different from the standard/tourer springs?

Generally thought of as "softer" springs allowing the vacuum operated slides to open quicker, hopefully resulting in faster motor response to throttle beatings.

1 beer per carb Tony!  cooldude Nah its simple. Take your little carb tops off, pull out the little black diaphram thing-carefull not to tear it, pull out the old spring, replaced in reverse order. Less then a hour.

While you are changing your springs, are you going to go ahead and change your jets...a little more involved but if so, let me know.  I have a set of 38's I am not going to use now.

No, I don't plan to mess with the jets.

New springs installed (about a 30-minute job). Took her for a test ride. I can't say I notice a huge improvement, but certainly no worse. Might be a touch quicker. Probably the easiest mod I've done, though.   cooldude

Thanks for the instructions and help!
