What would the possibility be of getting enough buyers together to talk Justin & Andy into running another run of Viking pipes? Viking is no more but the design for the pipes is still there.
Any thoughts? Maybe there aren't enough of us wanting them to justify it, but maybe there are?

I tend to remember that this company http://ssheaders.com/  was actually the one who designed and made the headers/exhaust for them.

Sounds good to me,but how many would we need.
Also at 1200 bucks how many would lineup?
Wish I would have Asked Justen to make mine black.
Ceramic coating just will not last.

Hey Dave, I took mine to the powder coater and he made them silver.  Haven't got a picture of the bike, but do havethe mufflers on the Trike done the same way........

Okay, here is the ceramic coated headers and the powder coated muffler.   The little gold in between is actually a chrome strap, blame it on the flouresent lights.

I might be able to convince myself, but for that kind of money I'd like to hear what others that have been running them have to say. I'd also like to hear the pipes or at least a sound file. Are they the ones dag is running? I've seen and heard a video of his bike, sounds good.
Also what carb modifications are needed?

The only "down side" to them is (as Shortleg Dave reports) that the silver coating wears off and they  show signs of rust.  Other than the cosmetic degradation of 120,000 miles' worth of riding in the rain and salted winter roads and not having a garage for the bike to live in... they've been great.  A K&N filter with no prefilter, a needle kit, and a carb sync is all that's needed.  And, working on the bike is SOOOO much better when you can just pop the mufflers off and do what ya need to do.

They're not too bad here... pic was taken about 10,000 miles ago

Viking made a true performance exhaust, Ca. Coatings is right, SS has the best custom exhaust out there also, Had them custom made on my friends Acura V 6 Blown sand rail back in the 80's sweet, Thanks Dag for the video.

Nope, they had them made locally. I talked to Justin. I still see him every now and then. And there did seem to be interest in making another run of the pipes.

I'm a semi-new valk owner (less than a year) and have been frustrated by the lack of performance upgrades available for these bikes. I feel like I got in a little to late because viking went out of business. I'd give my first born for a set of their pipes. Count me in if for sure if we can get this going. Also would love to get in contact with those guys about who did the head work/cams on their valks.

glad that is finally cleared up. Thanks
somebody posted that about SSheaders when viking was first making the pipes and nobody ever posted otherwise until now.

This is an option currently available from one of our members:

http://www.carolinabikeandtrike.com/Exhaust1.htm

I don't have them, but I've heard Matt's.  They sound great, but a bit too loud for me!

If Viking is no longer there maybe there would be a discount on the price since there was a markup on the price and if we go direct it may be discounted to us if they would share their source. I may be interested in a set.

i was also informed that there was no way to get the viking pipes thru the old reseller.
but i am interested if a new batch would be made.
or if someone has a second hand set to sell...

i called to carolina bike & trike last year inquiring about their full set (not the slip-on muffler)
Matts problem was getting the header pipes produced, in an economic quantity.

its the same problem : the producer needs a big volume to have a production setup of 6 different header pipes affordable.

i am looking for an exhaust with bigger header pipes before getting blown.

if somebody is listening :
sign me up on a list, if you start counting.

I know Matt quit making the complete exhaust and switched over to the slip-ons.  He's showing them on his site now, but I haven't talked to him in over a year.  I would think that if he's not making them he would take them off his site.  If you're serious you could contact him and let us all know fir sure.

Any word on this? Jeff K, are you in contact with the (former) viking dudes? I'm located in San Diego, so I'm semi-local to where viking used to be. Maybe I can beg them In person and with cash to make another run of these?

I talked to them last night, they said they are working on getting enough people interested. I think they need 20 sets to make a run.

I've been keeping my fingers crossed for awhile about this. The Mark t pipes look like a nice alternative but it doesn't seem like they can match the 10-12 H.P. increase of the Vikings. I think the Viking pipes require a re-jet but my valk is already lean and needs it anyway.

I have Viking exhaust, and I did not get any HP increase with these mufflers. But I love the sound  cooldude

I dont think that any mufflers can give 10-12 HP increase if any increase at all.
Any technician with dyno experience will tell you that the best mufflers are no mufflers.
The most efficient mufflers can only employ the same scavenging effect as a header.
The best horsepower can be had with larger diameter headers and shorter primary tubes.

I'll re-comb MarkT's (Horseapple.com) site, but I thought he had dyno runs posted.  He has a cross-fire option that helps boost performance as well.

I recently received a NEW set from Mark T's Horsapple Ranch and LOVE cooldude these pipes.  I never knew the valk could produce such a sweet low note.  I do not run trombones - But I do run both flavors - MILD and WILD.  Everywhere I go - I get complements on the note.

I run the dial-a-jets and will pull the plugs next week for a reading, but as of now, with a K/N, Dial-a-Jets and the MarkT's, this bike ROCKS!

Dag, I could be wrong, but...... I thought that was exactly how the viking pipes made so much power, by increasing the primary header size and slightly shorting it.  Stock our valks do sound like a sewing machine, but straight up horsepower was my main desire for putting on viking (or other) pipes. MarkT's site does state a 6-11 h.p. increase (which is very respectable) but i could not find a dyno sheet.

HP increase with an exhaust system. Viking pipes are your only option. They are the only system you can get with larger dia. header tubes and they are tuned headers. I had Vikings on my first Valk and promise you they helped. I happened to inherit a set of 2Bros 6x2 with crossover tube exhaust for my second Valk and I know for sure that they aren't going to make anything for the Valk anymore. I have alot of mods done to my bike(p&p heads, ect) I run stock jets and needles with interstate springs. I dynoed my bike last month and had close to 108 hp but more important air /fuel was perfect up to 170 mph when the dyno shut off. I know my bike won't run near that fast on the street but it sure was cool to watch.

I remembered an old thread where we were posting the dyno results and trying to nail down what was really being responsible for increases -
Here it is ( minus ) the charts unfortunately - but still fun to read -

This is the response I just received from my e-mail to Direct Discount:  Smiley

yes, this is the correct place. I am one of the previous owners of Viking...and as a Valkyrie Rider myself have noticed that there are not too  many options left for the Valk...so me an my old business partners are planning on making another run...We are not currently at the point where we are going to do it soon...but we have all the balls in motion. If you are interested in the system...you will need to either purchase in the store and not complete the payment so i can get you on the list...or you can complete with payment...or you can call here and i can get you on the list that way...

Was very happy when I was able to pick up a used set last yr for $400. The cans needed to be re-chromed which are getting done right now. triple chrome plated. 400-500 will be the final cost. The org cans did not have a cooper and nickel base and were peeling. The first thing out of the person who is coating them when he saw them said "these are from calif."  The headers need to be recoated. just had them sandblasted and will coat them with my ceramic coatings and then paint. when done will post pics. so my total cost will be 1k with lifetime chrome.

its good they are going to make more.
