Ok Guys...heres the situation...I desperately need help to figure this out and Thunder beach is here in 2 weeks. LOL

Live in Florida.  22K on the bike.  Valk always runs runs flawlessly. Put it in the garage last sept. got it our in Dec and noticed oily substance dipping from left bank exhaust at the stack connection bolt.

When I finally got it cranked it burned blue smoke for a few minutes then cleared out and ran and started fine. I let it sit again for about 2 more months , now I cant get it started without babying it (no throttle or choke) and most of the time I run down my new battery.  It tries to crank but sputters and trys to catch up for a second, but then cuts off. When it does finally stay running, it has blue smoke and sputters like its trying to catch up or fouled or flooded. Finally it will catch up and run fine. I have placed sea foam and stabil in the tank 2 months ago and ran it into the carbs. also Lucas upper cylinder oil. still same problem. I have taken it out on the road and ran it for and hour or so thinking that would clear it up and the next morning the same thing happens.

Now... once I have done this routine and its warmed up I can ride and crank it perfectly the rest of the day. BUT the next morning it is the same all over again.

Has anyone experience this before or heard of it? is there something I can check? or do? Any suggestions would be very appreciated. I see lots of experience and brain power on here  Smiley

pull the plug on #6 (?) where the vacuum line from the petcock goes to the intake runner, and see if it is
horrible.

When my buddy Gary's petcock went bad two ways (failed diaphragm, clogged weep hole) his bike acted kind
of like what you're saying... since the leaky petcock couldn't spew out the weep hole, raw gas just ran down
into #6 via the vacuum line... besides the just plain awfulness, I think he was lucky his (yours?) didn't
hydrolock...

Normally if an engine puts out blue smoke on initial start up and clears after a while of running, it's usually the valve guide seals leaking oil into the cyclinders. This will happen each time the bike sits for a while and is started. It usually will not happen if you go for a ride, stop for a moment and restart, just after it has sat for an extended amount of time.

If you are riding  and it is a must that you keep your eyes on the road, you are riding too fast.

Thanks guys. It is almost like lots of oil is going into the cylinders over night and its fouling the plugs until I burn it off.  What would have caused the bike to start doing this just for sitting up for 2 months. it never did it before.

Also is there anything I can do for leaky valve guide seals...(assuming this is what it is) is that expensive to have corrected?  An old shade tree mechanic friend of mine put transmission fluid in my old ford pickup when he noticed it was happening to it and it stopped blue smoke within a couple days. He said it swells the seals and lubricates them. I also saw a bottle of Engine stop leak that says the same thing on it. (although I am too afraid to do these home remedies to my preacious bike) I dont immagine that would be good for a wet clutch such as this.

Any more suggestions guys?

Its not too much, or deluted oil is it? Too short a kick stand that leans the bike too far to the left. U one of those darksiders? (Insert flame here) Most engins don't have seals on the exh side! Just throwin this out there. Correct me (anyone) if I'm wrong but the dipstick shouldn't be screwed in when oil level is checked and too the center mark only.

Think you need to check your petcock diaphragm like said above, sounds like gas is starting to fill your cylinder, and maybe raw unburned fuel is dripping from the weep hole in your exhaust. the gas will wash your rings out and may cause temporary blue smoke.

Only thing I will say, is GET YOUR HAND OFF OF THAT THROTTLE when you are trying to start it.    You bump the throttle and she will not start.      Let is start on its own, no throttle and when the RPM's start to go up it will allow you to blip the throttle.       I'd also suggest you use the choke.....    Push it to resistance and then push it another 1/2" to when the black button is facing the right handle bar.    That is FULL Choke.      Anything else is just taking up the slack in the cable.....

Oil situation.       It kind of acts like it is over full in the oil dept.    When you check the oil is the bike standing straight up in the air between your legs?     If not, drop some of that excess oil out of it and top it off with the bike in an upright position.    Dip stick just setting in the hole, not screwed in.
