Any good suggestions for saddlebag mount brake lights?
Pictures please ?
The question is not what you look at...but what you see...

Dag,
Here is what I did, $39.00 on Ebay. You can also get them from another supplier on Ebay in led.

Is that bike flat pink or is it just my monitor?
Thanks,

I used the standard turnsignals in the saddlebags, but they could easily be converted to run/brake/turn lights.

It's not your monitor.

Dag, I believe the best type of light is a flush mount super bright led with three small holes thru the bag and rubber gasket (there are also mount plates for these lights).  Holes on each end for mounting to bag, and center hole for wire.  (Unless you use double sided tape IF the light itself is not too heavy, then only one small hole.)

Take a look at the  Whelen police led's (in red for brake lights) TIR3 and LINZ6.  The problem is, the super bright circuit only works when the lights are set for one of the multiple flash patterns, and many jurisdictions do not allow law enforcement type flashing lights on non-LE vehicles.

I called a Whelen tech rep about a year ago, and he explained that the super bright function only worked on intermittent flash circuits, but for the 'constant-on' setting, the lights are only about 50% as bright as in flash mode.  Still, I think these are about as high tech, small, and bright that you can get.  I cannot find vids or images with these lights set to constant-on, but believe it would still be pretty bright.  I was not going to put one one each bag, but rather only one above or below the license plate on a mount bracket (never did though).  Note that the videos of red TIR3's appear to be amber on film because they are so bright, but actually are red.

Yeah, now I realize what you were talking about the other morning.  Those will definitely get you a ticket for impersonating an emergency vehicle.  Better to stick with something non emergency vehicle specific.

Thanks Jess  :cooldude:

I think I will go for the red Signal DLXT Thinline LED Light.

The question is not what you look at...but what you see...

This is the one that I have as a brake light for the super conversion.I made an alum bracket and bolted to the plastic filler panel for the stock brake light. It is very bright and eye catching. I also have my stock turn signals as running/turn/ and brake lights.  http://www.customdynamics.com/knight_rider_led_light_bar.htm

I don't recall where I saw them but there are lights that go where your original reflectors go on your saddlebags and stick out far enough to be seen from the rear.I try and locate later and post location.

Thanks! Ineresting..
I have searched so much on Internet for brake lights that I can see the Google logo when I close my eyes.

This is a turn signal light for a 60's era Datsun roadster... someone posted pictures of how they used this on their saddlebags once... it
looked awesome, the slant on them seemed to make it work out just right...

I use one Tir 3 light on the chrome bar under the trunk on my IS. You will be amazed at the traffic response. I have the it set at the 3 short blast. I've never had any problem at all. I slightly angled the strobe as it is very intense so that it is not directly angled and is blinding traffic behind me.
:cooldude:
I also have an amber up front that I will hit for a few seconds before going through interestions or any other place that I just get that "uneasy" feeling. All ya need is the switch near the grips. Once again, I've never had any problems.
Cheers :cooldude:

Marty I have been running two whelen tir3's on the back of my I/S for about 10k miles and not once has a LEA pulled me over.  I have had plenty come up to me at filling stations or wherever else and make a comment like.  "Great tail lights I spotted you a long ways back".   I then inform them that they are the same ones on our car  :coolsmiley:   My brother and best friend are local LEA's and they read me the law for color of lighting on the back of a civilian vehicle and it must be a color between amber and red. No blues, whites, greens etc.  I never worry about it.  If anything it is to be more visual and they appreciate that.  I installed the backoff modular to allow them to blink and hold for five seconds.  Works great!
