If you remove the driveshaft from the coupler you should see two holes in the bottom by the nut that holds the coupler to the final drive.

Underneath that little chromed cap that sits on top of the unit...

ETA - that's the "vent" hole. Not sure if this is what you're after.

Pull your driveshaft out of the pinion joint. The holes are probabbly covered up with grease. Clean the pinion joint real good and you will see the two little holes. The red straw that fits into the cleaner can will fit thru the holes. This is how little the holes are. The holes you want are not under the chrome breather cap. I use brake cleaner to clean everthing up. I even spray it into the pumkin after I clean the pinion joint and make sure the holes are open. Hope this helps.

Whether you find the holes or not, be sure to grease the splines with a good moly Grease. That's 2 % minimum moly content. Valvoline makes a 3% semi synthetic grease. I got a can at Autozone, but it's pretty common at other auto stores.

I forgot I posted this till tonight after I put the rear end back on!  Grin I pulled the drive shaft out and it was rusty in the center of a 'nut' looking thing. I did poke it with a needle to clean it. It was all rusty and dry in there. 1st time its been pulled in 47,000 miles.  Evil

Nope, I just took the picture and put it all back together......   Grin

Sorry, yes I did replace the shaft and cup.  Smiley  Found it was missing #35 on the fiche when I disassembled it.  Not sure if that was the entire reason for the problem or not.   99 Std w/ about 47k.

Number 35 is an O-ring that goes on the outside of number 10.
It did not cause your problem.
