The Nilos part number is 6204ZAV. As you can see the thickness of the material is .3mm or .018 inch.
(For more Nilos info go here...http://www2.nilos-ring.de/default.aspx/G/111327/L/1033/R/-1/T/122948/A/2/ID/122949)

I shortened the spacer an additional .018 from what the XRing specification was or as shown here...

I would think it would be very important the keep the spacer as close as possible. Taking .260 out would make it very close to stock. Taking more to me could create a line up problem on the rear pumpkin. Which you leave loose while torquing the axle nut. This extra that is being taken out of the spacer has to be made up somewhere and that being the 4 bolts leaving loose. Problem might not show up right away but maybe over time.  But then it might not cause problems. I know when lining up pumps in my job being out of line more than .05 will cause failure in the coupling dampeners. I had 2 spacers cut and the machinist took too much out. Was suppose to be .625 and both was .611. I wouldn't install because of the difference. Just something to think about.

Wouldn't it end up the same?  He is adding a washer in there that is .018 thicker, then taking .018 more off.  That should leave him at stock?

I missed that in the post. If he added that then he would be OK. I might can order some of them to make up what the guy screwed up on mine.
