The term "Seperation of Church and State" came about because in our government we have restrictions originally aimed at preventing the government from sponsoring a "state religion"  The proper context of this rule is to prevent government intrusion into religion not to kick God out of the workings of the country.

Regardless of what the rule was put there for, the liberals, the athiests, the anti Americans use this rule to try to remove prayer from school, to try to tear down crosses, to stop Christans from openely expressing their faith.

Now Nancy Pelosi the psycho witch from (you know where) tries to use her positon to pressure the catholic church to "INSTRUCT" (her words) their congregations to be in support of illegal immigration and the liberal (amnesty) view of what reform should look like.  Un flippin believable....the #3 person to the throne in this country thinks its ok to use political power to influence what the largest church in the world would say from the pulpit.  True VIOLATION of the idea of seperating Church and State

The woman needs firing BAD!!!!!!

Firing while tied to a stake would be appropriate.

Chris I am understanding what your saying but honestly to get the churches out and finally have people motivated to do something may not be such a bad idea. No matter what Pelosi says to support the churches can endorse their own ideas. Some churches wont do that for fear of loosing their tax exempt status and if the powers want to they can revoke it. It would really be nice to see the silent majority NOT being silent any longer then maybe all the bs that is being dished out would stop, including all the Pelosisms.  Grin The church and I mean the people in them have been silent for to long and do have a large pool of people. I see so many special interest groups get what they want in legislation, in people elected and just in new laws that go against what most really want. This is done with money and a unified effort to change things. The groups that want these changes are well funded and well orchestrated. The church as a group if it would start to pool its resources and be active in things and this is besides prayer, could alter the present course of this Nation. If we the church dont then we have no one else to blame. Thats why if Pelosi pokes the leaders to wake up then it may be a good thing. I dont endorse Pelosi nor her views but like I said the church can make its own decisions.

Just the fact that she can get away with TRYING to tell the Catholic Church what to preach is so outrageous that I think immediate impeachment would not be out of place.  She has lost touch with reality and obviously thinks shes so big she can disregard the law and the constitution.  I dont agree with her motives, but even if I did, shed still be wrong for using her position in that manner!

When Japan bombed Pearl Harbor it was a decision that motivated the US to get involved and ultimately was Japans demise. The brazen attitude of all our elected officials is nothing new in fact if you want brazen how can elected officials make a law and enforce it over the objection of the majority of the people that elected them. We are not talking about a small amount either. I understand like I said but if this motivates then I'm all for it. Sometimes pissed off is good thing when it translates to motivation just think if the church got indignant and start looking under all the rocks God only knows what will crawl out. Wink

I agree that what she is doing is very, very wrong.  However, I believe the separation of church and state is not to protect the gov't intrusion into religion, I believe it is to protect the gov't policy making based on religous beliefs.  God is different from religion.  God is always there, for those that believe, but religions pop up everywhere, last count there were thousands and no proof that any one is more correct than the other or has any more knowledge about what God wants or expects.  And let's face it, ALL religions harbor fanatics and fundamentalists and I do trust that the separation of C and S writers understood that fully.

The part about protecting the rights of citizens to practice there own religions and beliefs falls into a different category than separation of C and S.  This protects the individuals right so that an inquisition of any kind can never happen.

I doubt Pelosi would have made this request of the catholic church if she didn't already know they were 100% behind the Dems illegal alien policies. The predominant ethnic make up of the catholic church world wide is made up of hispanics. They have made it clear they don't agree with the moves being made by Arizona. By the way I am a catholic and not happy with the churches forays into politics.

Is the Catholic Church the richest organization in the world?

    * Daily Paul Liberty Forum

The following are statements either made in speeches by members of the Catholic Church or financial publications giving their assessments of the wealth of the Catholic Church.

The Catholic Church must be the biggest corporation in the United States. We have a branch office in every neighborhood. Our assets and real estate holdings must exceed those of Standard Oil, A.T.&T., and U.S. Steel combined. And our roster of dues-paying members must be second only to the tax rolls of the United States Government.'

The Catholic church, once all her assets have been put together, is the most formidable stockbroker in the world. The Wall Street Journal said that the Vatican's financial deals in the U.S. alone were so big that very often it sold or bought gold in lots of a million or more dollars at one time.

The Vatican's treasure of solid gold has been estimated by the United Nations World Magazine to amount to several billion dollars. A large bulk of this is stored in gold ingots with the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank, while banks in England and Switzerland hold the rest. But this is just a small portion of the wealth of the Vatican, which in the U.S. alone, is greater than that of the five wealthiest giant corporations of the country. When to that is added all the real estate, property, stocks and shares abroad, then the staggering accumulation of the wealth of the Catholic church becomes so formidable as to defy any rational assessment".

The Catholic church is the biggest financial power, wealth accumulator and property owner in existence. She is a greater possessor of material riches than any other single institution, corporation, bank, giant trust, government or state of the whole globe. The pope, as the visible ruler of this immense amassment of wealth, is consequently the richest individual of the twentieth century. No one can realistically assess how much he is worth in terms of billions of dollars.

The phrase 'separation of church and state' isn't found in the Declaration of Independence, nor is it in the Constitution.  As I remember it was first used in a letter written by one of the founders.

I agree......my point was that the whole tangled mess came about because the founders didnt want the government to dictate religion.  If our new "change" government now thinks they should be able to control the largest, most powerful church, then this is directly against what the founders wanted......AND SHE NEEDS FIRING BAD!

Yes.

That is, if the "Evangelicals" to which you refer are American citizens.  Government officials are supposed to be working for the people.  Not the other way around.

Of course, there's that chance I could be remembering seventh grade civics class incorrectly.     2funny
