Nice trip up to the historic town of Dover,TN

then up through the Land Between the Lakes National Park and over to Lake Barkley. I lucked out and dodged all but about 15 minutes of rain...just enough to dirty the bike! Here are a few pics...
This first picture is in Erin, TN...If you had the television tuned to the news 2 weeks ago you would have seen coverage of the flooding here in the Nashville, TN area. I was a bit surprised to see this 2 weeks after the fact...but this shows just how bad things were.
Here is a photo of one of the furnaces in this area that processed iron ore for producing arms for the Confederate army. This one is in Dover, TN.
Here is another furnace about 30 miles further north in the Land Between the Lakes National Park
I ate lunch at the buffet in Lake Barkley State, I should have taken some pics...but I was just too damn busy eating to think about the camera! I have been in State Parks from coast to coast in this great country....the food in the restaurants in Kentucky State Parks is some of the best I have experienced.

We built a 500 KV powerline out of Cumberland City to Dover and from Dover to Clarksville a few years ago. I took pictures of those same furnace's while on that job....Nice area with some nice roads for the art of motorcycling

Joe, I'm not surprised to hear that you found that road (TN-49) when you were in the area! It is a favorite with the "peg scrapers". Too bad you were working and didn't have one of your bikes with you.

Thanks Big Al, this bike has been a bit of a project. I got a pretty good deal on this bike up in New Hampshire a couple of years ago because it needed some work. It was fun riding it through New England and then back to Tennessee, hopefully this year I will finish the remaining parts of the restoration.

We were right behind you yesterday. My neighbor and I rode over to Erin and got a hair cut. Then stopped in at the little restaurant we ate at a few weeks ago and had some pie. Tom my neighbor is a Harley rider (has a 07 fat boy) I let him ride Greenzila over to Erin and back, he is still talking about the bike. We meet a Valkyrie rider out of IL (just north of Saint Louis, Mo) at the restaurant. He and his friend who was riding a Harley were just passing through. Said his uncle (also from IL) was a member of VRCC and the owner of two Valks. I think he said his uncle's handle was Painter. He said he was planning on being at Inzane. Had a great ride.

:-\And Jim, what might that be ? Looks mighty good to me. Almost as nice as your Tourer in that awful green.

Mac ---- were you riding his Fat Boy...I'm just curious from a performance standpoint how it compared to Greenzilla? Other than the V-Rod and the Electra Glide, the Fat Boy is the only other Harley that I have been seriously tempted by (if money was not an issue).
Spirited-6 (Don) ---- I have done most of the easy stuff that is visible...but there are still things that I know are there such as rusty shifter and other hidden things that drive neurotic people like myself crazy. I'm slowly replacing these things when I find good deals on ebay (Pinwall, etc.)

No I was on Odessa (I/S). He has a nice fat boy and I'm sure I could ride it anytime. I had the 98 Road King and there were lots of things I liked about it but I just can't get over the ride of a Valk. There is nothing among two wheels that can compare. I know that is my opinion and everyone has one. Hope to share the wind with you soon. Oh by the way the black I/S is looking good.
