Riding on a hot summer night and welcoming that blast of cool(cold) air in dips in the road. Riding in a nice easy rain with a dry rain suit and enjoying the smell and sound of the rain. Riding in a hard cold downpour in a leaky rainsuit asking why, why, why, and then, at the end of the day, laughing about it! Riding through curve after curve, concentrating on setting up your line and experiencing a higher level of adrenalin and LIVING! Riding and moseying along a deserted back road in no hurry, jes laid back almost to the point of dozing off. Riding with your friends, knowing all are in the same frame of mind and all share a common interest, the peculiar attitude adjustment which comes with riding. Just riding.
I could go on and on about riding memories that we don't forget but I would like to add one thing, something that maybe we should remember, ................our rider friends who aren't riding today
These friends aren't building riding memories at this time. Mostly medical causes but other reasons too. Maybe we should remember them and give them an encouraging word or too.
I'm thinking of just a few of them but there are many more. I would like to just say "Hang in There, I'm thinking about you" to RJ, Momz, Big Al, and Rtaz (Robert).
I do know what it's like to not ride. I'm very fortunate and blessed at my age to be able to ride, although less than I would like.
Can we chime in with some words of encouragement for those of our brotherhood and sisterhood that cannot ride this year???

That's why I post reports of some of my rides... Like Saturdays encounter with all the cool HD guys, or my never ending quest to be the first biker to drown, while riding (rain finds me)... I think of the enjoyment I get, in January, when I read of the expliots of my brothers and sisters in the southern, warmer parts of our great country... Wayne, I hope to be able to ride, if even for a lil' bit, when I'm your age (if I make it there )... I feel for RJ, Momz, and RTaz, and I hope when they read my posts, it gives them pleasure, rather than remind them that they are on the sidlines for the moment. I just confirmed the off days, and talked to Timbr n Chilli, so I'm headed up n over the UP, to get a taste of one of them BAB's, and to see some old friends... A word of caution to all others that will be riding during the Memorial Day weekend... Black Dog's on a road trip, and it will rain Black Dog

Once a rider,ALWAYS a rider! It is part of us and it shapes us! Solo is a RIDER in his Miata or Nitehawk just as Big Al is a rider on his Kawa or his harley as well as the Valk! One day I will probably ride one of those hover-round wheel chair scooters or I'll spend time at walmart just so I can fly one of those motorized shopping carts,But ALWAYS will be a "RIDER" ! It is who I am! When I can no longer ride my Valk I will put intercom and CB on the riding mower and hope people will MOW with me! That is just how Riders do it, even if it just means putting the lazy boy recliner in back of a pick up,we will RIDE !

I worked in a borrowed “hover-round type” electric wheelchair when I was laid up with the broken leg. The big boss was in the shop along with a couple of co-workers one day and I showed him I could do a hell-of-a stoppie in the hover-round. I think it scared him but he managed to smile as he quickly left the shop.

My mother was in the personnel department of a bottling company (remember Texize and Fantastic?)... most summers I got jobs on the bottling line working like a dog, but one summer I got cushy job in the research department... there were times I could just wonder around the plant, the bosses would ride these three wheeled stand-on electric scooters around in the plant and a bunch of them were usually parked near the doors to the air-conditioned office area... as often as I could I'd sneak off on one (on two wheels as much as possible) off to the injection molding area of the plant and just to taunt my working-his-butt-off cousin Bill... -Mike

Thanks Wayne...sometimes things happen that you have no control of...it's what you do afterwords that's makes the person you are...you can sit back and feel sorry for yourself or you can move forward and do what you can to overcome and deal with it....I plan on dealing with it....
I love to look at all the pictures and rides that are posted on this forums...I may not always respond but I do enjoy hearing from folks in the club...my thoughts go out to RJ, Momz and Big Al and to you too Wayne
Thanks for the good thoughts....I go back to see the Surgen tomorrow to get the staples out and see how well the surgery really went....( I am feeling better...but the leg looks kinda weird)

Wayne, F. Scott Fitzgerald could hardly have done a better job than you in describing those sensations all of us on this forum recognize, and could only recognize from having experienced them ourselves on a motorcycle. Reading and listening to stories like the one you just shared with us is a great way to experience the ride vicariously through another riders experiences. In this respect, I don't think I will ever be without the thrill of the ride......
