Hi all, I am an infrequent poster, but an avid viewer of the Valkyrie Message boards. I just finished my “Valkyrie Glide” project and thought I would share the results. This all started about a year and a half ago with a visit to the local HD dealer, where my wife jokingly tried trading off my 01 Valkyrie Standard. We made like we were interested in a used 06 Ultra Classic, they were interested enough in trying to sell it that they wheeled it off the showroom floor so we could take it for a test ride. I really liked the fairing, stereo and all the stuff up front; she liked the rear seat, trunk, and saddle bags, so that she could haul around all her stuff. Neither one of us liked how crowded we were on the bike, and the noticeable lack of power. After the test ride it came down to wheeling and dealing. I was offered $8,000 for my bike (kind of surprised me, I thought that was pretty good.) Then it was back to reality, they only wanted an additional $12,000 from me and I would be the proud owner of a genuine Harley Davidson. We thanked them and left. I called my brother in-law who happens to own the same year and model bike we were looking at, and found out he just traded his off for a newer one and the best he could get for it was $13,000. So the way I figure things if this dealer had gotten their bike for around the same price as what he got in trade, I would have basically given them my Valkyrie for $1,000 and ended up with 30 less horse power, and a bank note. The dilemma of having a long haul touring bike still existed. Our riding style had changed over the years and we were becoming more interested in longer, over-night trips and it was a pain in the ass to try strapping all your gear to the back of the bike. Nothing compares to riding a Valkyrie, and I am pretty attached to the one I have. I’ve got nothing against the Interstate but it just didn’t appeal to me. So I realized the only solution was to build what I wanted. So began the long adventure of searching E-Bay daily looking for the parts I needed at a decent price. Installing the fairing was by far the most challenging and most fun. I did it over the winter so there was no need to rush and everything came together pretty good, and more importantly is holding up great. The saddle bags are Tsykayu “patrol bags” I bought from a co-worker who meant to put them on his Kawasaki Nomad and never got around to it, so I got them for cheap, but had to re-drill the mounting holes. It was spring time so I rode it that year with the bags and fairing. I looked around again as winter hit for a Tour- Pak but they were all too expensive or beat all to hell. Last month I struck gold. I got a King Tour-Pak for $71.00 that was undamaged, horrible paint, and had no hardware. That $71.00 investment quickly turned into a $500.00 investment, but now I have a completely refurbished, color-matched Tour-Pak, and the last piece to make my project complete. So in the end, instead of spending $12,000 to get what I wanted, it only cost me around $1,400 (parts and paint.) I still get to ride “my bike”, and it is unique. Like most everyone else here I get a kick out of pulling up on something different, and then watching from a distance as people come around to check out your bike.

Wow, that is one sweet ride! Definitely a "best of both", but still with all the flair and passion of a Valk. Enjoy!

Very nice.  I've got a couple of questions for you. What kind of mounts did you use for the bags? And second, how did you mount the tour-pak? Did you mount it to a stock Honda OEM Valk luggage rack?

Good job on the revamp.
Question:
Did you ever see or hear of KCK's Hardley Diversion Honda from oHIo? Would be great to stand both side by side and compare, but Ted sold his somewhere down South and lost track of it.
He used all Harley parts on the rear, not sure about the fairing. He might not of changed it out......
I'll see if I can find a picture of it, or maybe someone from the oHIo board will see this and locate their picture. mojo, Wegs, Doc, Bones, Murdoc, someone sound off, ok?

Thanks Stan, that is the one. From the tank back. seats and etc are all Harley Davidson, and the bags are all Harley. Both units look very good......... Ride hard and safely........

EOD MOD, I love what you did with the bike and am very jealous. I really wanted a street glide before I fell in love with my valk. Wanted to get an interstate and super valk it, but couldn't find one in my price range. You have inspired me to mod my tourer, one question though. what kind of fairing is that? is it a harley fairing or a dragonfly? how did you get it to fit? thanks

Finally got a decent picture of Ted's Hardley Honda.  Fenders, gas tank and engine are Honda, rest is Harley Davidson....

Tennessee Highway Patrol was pulling bikes over on US 129 for altered tags and soup bowl helmets. It was mostly the sport bikes with them turned sideways like yours and the ones that had the tag tucked in the under-tail.
