Rolling Thunder and Valks

Rode in Rolling Thunder in yesterday for the first time.

To my suprise I only saw about 6 Valks.

One was a real nice custom trike job with what looked almost like a S-10 truck bed on it.

Ran into a new Valk owner who said he just joined the board.  Name is Bill and seems to be a real nice guy.

Hope everyone elses Memorial Day rides are safe.

While riding down to Tenessee we saw thousands of bikes heading north to Rolling Thunder. I have made that ride several times and every time I get chills. I just do not feel like burning my clutch for several hours in traffic anymore, I love the Vets (am one) and I support all that they do.

Sgt...   I was there as well for Rolling Thunder with another Valk rider.  We also saw about 6-7 Valks among the crowd.  Had the pleasure of meeting a guy(Dan) with a nice Red/Black I/S from NC who said he hadn't heard about the VRCC.  Hope to see him signing up soon. 

I wish there was a bit more riding than waiting,  but that also gave us some time to wander and check out some great bikes and unusual folks.  It was HOT @ 90 degrees,  but felt hotter standing and walking around the staging parking lots.

I refused to ride in the parade due to all the heat and the shear amount of time spent waiting.  I heard one of the cops talking that there were somewhere around 560,000 bike this year.

  I rode and parked at the round about at the Va end of
Memorial bridge.
   You can watch the whole parade from there or walk across
and watch in D.C.

our town (wentzville Mo) has the 1st vietnam war memorial.  rolling thunder has stopped here every year since it started.wentzville sponsers the food at the vfw and the bikes can gas up at a local shell station for free.

i try to go out every year to cheer them on.

I was there with my red/black 2000 I/S. Got there about 0730. It was hot, but well worth the wait. We rode up from NE North Carolina. Ended up staying in Alexandria til Monday to ride back. Good pics over at smugmug.com, just search Rolling Thunder 2010.

Hey Rich,

I thought I saw you and another rider heading down Sunday morning. My crew and I were just finished breakfast at Arners when you went by. I saw a total of 16 valks. Only saw 6 in the demostration (Parade). We opted not to ride in this years, as waiting in the staging areas with little communications in the past. We parked a couple blocks from the vendors and watched for a couple of very hot hours.

Did see a red and cream valk heading out on New York Ave that must of had a stuck throttle as she was rev around 2500rpm. Could not get close enough to see if I could help him out. He was a few3 car length ahead of us and continued on his way.

Great day, and put a close to 400 miles on the fat lady...

A friend of mine commented that he had never seen so much oil on the pavement at intersections as he did this weekend on Constitution Ave.
