It's because of the camber of the road.  You ride in right lane, road tilts down from center to facilitate flow of rainwater off road and therefore as your bike sits upright, the contact patch of tire is a little off to the left.  shouldn't affect handling unless tire is really worn.

And, left turns are longer.

disagree with both answers.

I have wear exactly the same on the rear as the front. I noticed that I tend to ride in the center to the left of the lane. the tires ruts in the lane are the cause. This is a servere angle to tire from the high center point to the tire rut low point. I have since for the last 1k miles ridden center to the right of the lane catching that tire rut and tire wear is getting on the right side of the tires like the left side. Most of the hwys around here are old asphalt so the ruts/road wear is great, the concrete sections have the ruts also but much less.
My roundtrip commute every day has almost equal high speed long left and right turns, so I know that is not the problem.

Chet usually makes good sense out of most any subject.  Read the section on tires.

Try to avoid riding in the center of the lane (between the ruts).  You will pick-up debris and puncture a tire.  Always pick either the left or right rut.  The cage tires keep them cleaned out.

Another reason to stay out of the center of the lane is oil droppings making for slick spots. Especially noticeable at traffic lights and absolutely the worse  tickedoff at toll plazas!
