I was fired last Friday for an alleged violation. I am fighting to get my job back....one I've had for 24 yrs. Some say I have a good chance.........till then I gotta start selling stuff and taking my family into survival mode. That includes my Valk...........man I hate this. Thanks for any prayers........all are welcomed.

I think 'alleged violations' are the worst crap in the world.  You have my sympathies.

This is usually short hand for, "we need to get rid of someone to cut costs... where can we find someone to do the donkey to?"

I would immediately file a complaint with the EEOC.  Even if it is without merit, your employer will get a letter asking them to justify the actions they took.  I'd also see if you have local or state employment commissions that can put some pressure on for you.

And yes, prayers... blessings... and a joss stick lit for you.

DON’T SELL THE VALK!!

Believe me, it’s a stress reliever.  I’ve been in your shoes, walked that mile also.  No matter what happens, kiss your wife and kids and know they love you and they don’t blame you for things you have no control over.  They’re suffering with you.  So are all of us.

Sounds to me that the company you worked for had other reasons for your termination.  Chances are they couldn’t afford you anymore and really had no good grounds for getting rid of you.

Follow SE's advice and file with the EEOC, if nothing else it will force their hand a bit so you can find out what the "alleged" violation might be.

It may well be a salary issue, after 24 years a person is often making twice what a newbie makes. They can let an experienced employee go and hire two or more to take their place, less salary and sometimes lower benefits for new empolyees compared to someone grandfathered in.

My dad was fired from Sears 19 yrs ago when they were trying to cut salary expenses after he had worked for them 33 yrs and had been top store employee so many times I can't remember.  He was one month short of 55Y/O.  His lawyer begged him to sue but dad refused.  His feelings were hurt as much as a divorce would have caused.  He has not worked since.
