place that I would eat an Indian meal?  Yepper, Luanda, Angola.  Wasn't bad.  Everyone freaked out that I had never eaten at an Indian resteraunt before.  Well, let's just say that Indian places don't really make it in Cajunland....  2funny

Boss man took us out for a beer and some Indian grub.  Don't have a clue what I ate, but it was tastey!!!!  Word of warning, the yogurt sauce thing was good and the green was Cajun hot but the red will set your world on fire!  Shocked Shocked

Clockwise from left - Some Cajun Valk Pilot Service Coordinator (who was born in Tennessee), John - DD Service Coordinator (from Wyoming), Chris - MWD Service Coordinator (English - but born in South Africa), Stephen - Country Manager (English - but born in Kenya), Ian - MWD Service Coordinator (Scottish) and Greg - R&M Coordinator (from Newfoundland).

This was the appetizer - again, I don't have a clue what I ate, but it was good!

And the main course - only thing I recognized was what I would call "cream peas".  Tastey I tell ya!!!!

Well, ya gotta do something on a Thursday night!  OH YEAH, I GET A 3 DAY WEEKEND - THE POPE IS COMING TO TOWN TOMORROW AND THEY EXPECT 12,000 additional police and 2,000,000 extra people in town this weekend.  We will be working out of the staff house - traffic is going to be unbelievable!!!!!!!!!

Only problem, after eating a meal like that here, I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!!!  2funny Undecided

Funny story.  Sounds a bit like my own.  I grew up in the mountains of Kentucky and Tennessee and had never even met an Indian (much less ate Indian food) until I got out of college and went to work for IBM.  Then I ended up working with lots of with lots of folks from India.  They invited me out to eat with them a few times, but I declined and I kept declining for about a year...then I broke down and tried it.  Much like yourself I really liked the food.

Do yourself a favor and the next time you go, try the Tikka Masala (chicken in spicy yogurt sauce).  Order a couple of beers ahead of time because depending on how they make it, you may need them to put out the fire!

Strider, come up to NC sometime and we'll do the Indian buffet here in town. I only eat Indian buffet style because I cannot ever remember what I like and how to say what it is to order it.
The place in Charlotte has the buffet split half veggie, half regular meaty. I know from your pics that you like the meaty, but having the bar split does make it easier for some of my friends.
The place had a small fire, and closed, but the original owners have just reopened. Should still be good.

Did you get the honey balls? The place in Charlotte serves small balls of honey for desert that are super sweet.
We order a yogurt smoothie type drink that is great at keeping down the fires of some of the sauces (which will suprise you). They aren't cajun hot, but some of it is as hot in a different way.

Brick Lane in East London and Southall in SW Lonodn are the places to eat Indian food.

I once ate in th staff kitchen of the Indian Embassy in London. There were some minute black seeds in the food. Well I cracked one with my teeth, as the inner contents hit my tongue it felt like someone had stuck a red hot needle through my tongue.

Some Indian peppers are so hot they are way off the Scoville chart. They make eating Scotch Bonnet peppers seem like having a smoothie
