Flayme.com on Internet Trolls

Netiquette Guidelines on CureZone.com I wish we had the resources to produce these kinds of guidelines and explanations.

One of our members once used the term "attention whore".

Sometimes I just get weary and the mean spirited side of me bubbles to the top.   Wink

Willow,
Are you insinuating that we have a troll or two among us?

Good read.  I read both of the links and found them rather interesting and can feel your pain when it comes to moderating this board, especially when people resort to name calling.  Personally I find it hard to stomach some of the stuff that has been posted recently.  I found this quote particularly poignant:

"For trolls, any response is 'recognition'; they are unable to distinguish between irritation and admiration; their ego grows directly in proportion to the response, regardless of the form or content of that response.

Trolls, rather surprisingly, dispute this, claiming that it's a game or joke; this merely confirms the diagnosis; how sad do you have to be to find such mind-numbingly trivial timewasting to be funny?

Remember that trolls are cowards; they'll usually post just enough to get an argument going, then sit back and count the responses (Yes, that's what they do!)."

Nuff said!

The problem with Socialists is they eventually run out of other people's money to spend!

Some people are too stupid to realize how ignorant they are.

Grin  I was thinking more like five.   Grin

I found this quote particularly poignant:

Some of those jumped out at me also.  I didn't necessarily agree with some of their assessments, particularly the "all trolls are cowards."  I think many of us are too quick to play the coward card for anyone with whom we disagree.

I do agree strongly that the best way to deal with trolls (or those postings we believe to be trolling) is to ignore them.

Thank you for not ignoring my post.   2funny

That was interesting....I've worked in or around the internet most of my life, but have to admit that I have never thought that the term "troll" had a special meaning in this context.

Good read, thanks for sharing......

Willow,

Here in Michigans lower Peninsula we are all cosidered Trolls by the people in the upper peninsula (Da Yoopers).
Why?....Because we live south of the Mackinaw Bridge.

So that would make all of us at IZX......TROLLS!

Don"t thay live under bridges? I thought that"s why I blow my horn when I go under a bridge, to scare them so thay don"t jump down on me.

You know, Willow, that article truly is interesting reading.

Should almost be required reading for joining the forum.

But, then again, that is just my opinion, and everyone has one of those also.
